In the past I used a double boiler on the stove to melt candle wax. Approx time to complete 45 min. This new hot plate does the job in 15 min. This is a great purchase and sorry I waited to make the purchase. One minor fault the rubber pads in the base keep falling off. Just a touch of glue solved that issue.

As per the sellers post, this product is 100% Adult Use Only.As a first time Candle Maker using half pint Mason Jars.I was able to use 2 pound of soy wax (digital kitchen scale) and made three half pint Mason Jar candles.Since this is not a double boiler set up, the hot plate warmed up very quickly when starting off with one (1) pound soy wax and using the thermometer for the type of wax I used.Although the highest recommended setting for wax is setting three (3), I recommend starting at setting one (1) and moving the dial up to setting three (3) as the hot plate warms to meet the best melting temperature for the wax used.The pour pitcher is light weight and easy to use and the handle did not get hot to the touch. Wax poured nicely.The thermometer is accurate as long as you do not place the tip near the bottom of the pour pitcher while setting on the hot plate. There is a button battery.I will most likely preplace the spoon. It is nice an long, but made of metal. If I forget and leave the spoon in the pot, it could lead to a bad burn.As long as you are careful, the spoon meets the needs for stirring hot wax without creating air bubbles with a slow stir.I highly recommend using the silicon hot mat to prevent scorching your work space or kitchen counter top after removing pitcher from the hot plate.Although I was excited to create my first candle, I did have to slow down, read the material in the box (1 pamphlet for the hot plate. 1 pamphlet for candle making instructions).Overall, the product is a nice, compact (easy storage) set up for Adults to make candles for yourself and friends for the first time or to get started in the world of candle making.Sincerely,Tennessee - USA
