I have fitted an O-ring in the top of the lid which prevents the grinding dust from escaping all over the place. **Q: how much coffee will it grind at one time? (i.e. what's the maximum capacity?)** A: Read the book that came with the grinder. It tells the exact amount. I grind 3-4 heaping tablespoons of coffee beans at a time for a 12-cup percolator coffee maker and it does a great job. It is so efficient and so easy to use. I like that the grind cup comes off to empty the ground coffee. I highly recommend this product. FYI, I am a 77 year old Granny and am very particular about my household products. I want them to work as stated and I need ease of use. This one rates high in all categories. I have recommended it to several people. I stand by my word too. **Q: Do any of the spices "leak" under the blades and into the main body of the grinder when in use? Thanks!** A: If by "leak" you mean escape from the metal canister at the shaft the answer is, no. I am 100% with this unit for spice and coffee with no complaints. I do find that finer grinds accumulate under the blade and are more densely packed then above it and when that needs to be uniform I manually stir the contents loosening that pack with the back of a spoon and run the machine a second time for a more uniform grind. **Q: What is the power of the motor?
