Many Ford 5.4L and 4.6L 3 valve owners are mislead into thinking that they need to spend thousands of dollars to remedy ticking cam phasers by replacing all the timing components or a full engine replacement. While you can certainly can fix the ticking by replacing various timing components or the entire engine, the fix is only temporally. After a year or two, the new components will begin to wear and the ticking noise will come back. Our cam phaser lock out kit is a cost effective alternative that will eliminate the noise and prevent it from reoccurring in the future. The noise is caused when the worn phasers shift back and forth, triggering a valve timing adjustment as they move. If the phasers are locked into a fixed position, the ticking noise stops completely. Locking the phasers into a fixed position is as simple as inserting a specially designed spacer into the phaser. To install the lockout, you're going to need to remove some of the accessories on the front of the engine, pull the valve covers, remove the cam phasers, and then insert our lockouts into the phaser.Installation of cam phaser lockouts will cause a check engine light. The light can be removed with a performance programmer paired with custom tuning. Without custom tuning, vehicles may run poorly and in rare cases, some engines will go into "limp mode" and will not operate without tuning. This cam phaser noise solution kit is intended for the do-it-yourselfer that have their own methods of removing the engine code. These particular lockouts will only fit factory phasers made by Ford. If you have a phaser that is manufactured by an aftermarket manufacturer, these lockouts will not fit.
