Guy X [DVD]

Worth watching
I thought this satire deserved better than the poor reviews on IMDB and rottentomatoes. Give it a try, it's quite funny and not too long.

Give it a miss
I bought this film by accident then felt I had to watch it. Another mistake! You would be forgiven if you felt that the script was cobbled together on the back of cigarette packet. The whole thing lacked a story and was just unbelieveable. Not worth the money.

Well Meaning But Insignificant
I rented this film on the basis of a review saying "Jason Biggs is a comedy genius". I daresay he is, but you wouldn't know that from watching this film. It's not a comedy, it's not an anti-war film, it's not a love story, it's a nothing.Good performances from Biggs and Northam which amount to nothing. The woefully miscast Natascha McElhone makes no impact (other than raising the question 'if she's so cheesed off, what is she smiling at?')The film lacks strong direction and cohesive plot and so it loses it's focus quite early on. It's sad because does start well and it's a nice looking film. I think it has aspirations of being M*A*S*H but lacked the confidence. There's an air of lost hope about this film, one that suggests that the makers said 'I'm bored of this, let's pack up and get out of here' to themselves. So they do, leaving you feeling short changed and a bit sorry for it.

Totally mis-sold!
This is a really interesting, amusing and quietly though-provoking film that has been totally mis-sold and mis-advertised.If you're expecting an American Pie-style comedy because the DVD box says that Jason Biggs is a comedy genius, then you're going to be very sorely disappointed. I can only think that the people releasing this film thought that it was better to con the audience into thinking it's something that it isn't, in the hope that that'll sell more tickets/ DVDs.In reality GUY X is a VERY black comedy, which reminds me a bit of films like the ones made by the Finnish directors Aki & Mika Kaurismäki - it's slow, poignant and has a really unusual twisted feel to it.Beautiful cinematography too.(I wasn't terribly convinced by Jeremy Northam as an army commander though. They should have cast a proper American, rather than a British guy putting on an accent...)

Disappointing
Got to the end wishing I didn't bother watching this film. I thought of it more than a drama, mystery than anything else. Definitely not a comedy. My views are the same as everyone else who gave this film a low rating so I won't say any more....

I bought this DVD because jason biggs is in it but when I received it, I didn't think I would enjoy it but I definitely did. Great and hilarious from biggs. Great comedy

Utter Pants.
What did I just watch? This is quite possibly the worst film I have ever wasted my life with. The single comedy moment occurred in the first minute then after that, the was no real plot to follow let alone plot progression. This film left me wondering who the characters were, why they were where they were, and what the point of the film was. Really, REALLY do not waste you life or money on this film. The only original thing about this "comedy" is a complete lack of comedy, and the statement that "Biggs is a comic genius" clearly refers to a different role in a different film.
