You're paying a lot for accessories.
Because the stock of Pi 5 boards tends to ebb and flow, companies tend to want to make their money on selling you accessories, and iUniker is no exception. The board itself is a standard stock Pi 5 board that comes in standard Raspberry Pi packaging. In the kit, you also get a case that's made out of very flimsy plastic, a couple of HDMI cables, a power adapter, a nice heatsink block, a no-name SDXC card, and a couple of SD-to-USB adapters.Slapping it together was fairly simple. I was a little surprised that the board screws into the case. For how cheap it is, I would have expected it to just snap in. The star of this show is the heatsink block, which comes with some thermal pads pre-applied, though I would have liked to have seen more coverage. I ended up replacing it with my own thermal pads, and was happy to see how well the setup kept temps down when pushing the board hard. The SD card seemed reasonably fast when I wiped it (it comes with PiOS preinstalled from October 2023) but in actual use, performance wasn't great. I ended up replacing it with a SanDisk card, and was much happier with I/O.Overall, it isn't a bad kit, and iUniker isn't completely egregious when it comes to pricing. But not surprisingly, you could spend a lot more and get better quality components if you bought everything separately.
