Fun adult drinking game with D&D theme
If you have a few nerdy friends who also like to drink, you all might enjoy an evening of Dungeons and Drinks. To be fair, there is a "family friendly" rules version included, but the draw of the game is the drinking aspect, in my opinion, otherwise it is a fairly pedestrian game. The object is to end the game as the "best hero" by killing the most monsters and ending up with the most points. It's mentioned that we're looting a dungeon, but interestingly, there are no "treasures" to be had. In that sense, it's pretty simple, use spells to kill monsters, but the added element of players hampering other players increases the difficulty and competitiveness.Unfortunately, there is no "game play" video listed in the rulebook or on the product materials. I searched for how-to videos, but was not able to find one in my language. There are a couple of aspects of game play that are vague in the rules, that I would like clarified, but in those cases there are always the "house rules" options. The attractive "D&D" tie-in is tenuous at best, really this game could be clothed in any skin and it would play the same, but we like our properties, don't we, so in that sense the monsters and the spells add to the theme. There is drinking any time a monster takes damage, so, there is a lot of drinking, if that is your choice. They suggest different types of alcohol based on the number of damage hits taken, but again, you can make up whatever rules you like in this regard. It's a fun enough game, and if you like the fantasy aspect, and you enjoy drinking, you and some friends will have a good time playing. It's not a huge financial commitment, at less than 20 bucks (at the time of this review), so if it's calling out to you, I'd say pick it up and give it a shot.
