It’s a great DAC if you have a technical iem, it’s energetic but lacks soul. Stage isn’t too big, and subpar holography. For my iem (softears twilight) I found Cayin RU6 to be a better DAC than this. In fact RU6 is probably the best DAC under $500 currently.

I love this amp/dac dongle so much, it has become my pride and joy. My favorite to use. I use it primarily now. It has such a smooth and balanced sound. It's crisp and clean too. At first it lacks a lot and just seems not quite right in a lot of ways, I can't explain how strange it is before burn in of at least 5 days of over 4 hours each day. The payoff is big though as it is some fairly big, clean power with sparkle. Very good imaging. Instruments where they should be, nicely separated too. Everything just sounds so good to me, I think they've done a great job, one that leaves me anxious to purchase everything that comes next from them. It's easy to use and requires no setup. Thank you.

Original Title - "A lot of buzz for nothing" I'm using Shure SE846 IEM and didn't see any advantage in sound quality compare to a regular pc headphone plug. It still useful for my mobile phone. update ---> While with the IEM the sound didn't improved and even get worse, with the headphone HIFIMAN Arya Organic the sounds is much better with the DAC-amplifier (with balanced cable) compare to plugin the headphone directly to the computer. However, I didn't succeeded to install the application on my android mobile (doesn't support on my regional error) and Tidal cannot play higher than 16 bit, 44.1khz but still the sound is good (on the computer it plays in the highest resolution). Therefore, I do recommend that DAC-amplifier only for consumers that need a solution for headphone (but not IEM).
