Easy to navigate, and clear words/explainers. I feel a lot more confident with this book while I travel.

You may not want to follow the walks exactly as presented unless you are going to be in Japan for a long time. Each walk includes at least one "major" site (such as a famous temple) plus other sites of interest in the vicinity. But on a shorter trip, you may want to plan routes that take you to more major sites in one walk, which this book can help you do. You can use the walks as a starting point for creating your own itinerary. The maps are very detailed. There is a lot of detail about the sights on each walk, which may help you decide what you want to see. The detail also makes it useful as a guidebook as you tour each site. I enjoyed perusing it before goingfound it helpful.

This book came in really handy for Japan the only thing it was missing was things dealing with rental cars, driving, and gas. Besides that this book was awesome!We went to a few cities off the beaten path and ended up eating at some restaurants that didn't have picture or English menus. Our waiter had a lot of fun using this book to tell us what different fish and food items we were getting! This was the case every time we had to resort to the book, everyone we asked questions to were very helpful and they seemed to have fun finding the answer in this book.

Love this form of communication

My former Japanese tutor recommended this book to me to assist my traveling group and I on our first trip to Japan. I was not sure what to expect, but was impressed when it arrived with its wealth of information and its offbeat sense of humor. I have not yet left for my trip, so perhaps I should update this review afterwards, but I am excited to try out this excellent resource!

Fun little book with small pictures and multiple ways of portraying words. It supplements my other course which concentrates on writing.Would recommend for fun and learning.

I was pleased that I could order this from the US. It did not take long to arrive from Japan. The price was just right. I encourage anyone wanting to learn some simple words or phrases to get this book. Ideal for young and old.

very good book

This was my go-to phrase book when I arrived in Japan to live and work. Not only are there helpful, spread out phrases and vocab, there are the little cultural tidbits - what each region/prefecture is known for and what food is famous there. Really, meet a local and they will enthusiastically tell you what their home area is known for.When friends came to visit, I lent them this book, to help them with their day excursions while I was at work. Recommend it for its ease of use as a beginner and a visitor to Japan.

Ich selbst hab das Buch zwar kaum gebraucht, da ich zumindest etwas Japanisch spreche.Nur mit Englisch kommt man allerdings in Japan an vielen Ecken nicht weit.Von daher eine ganz klare Kaufempfehlung für dieses Buch, welches alle Bereiche des täglichen Leben abdeckt.Der Leser kann durch zeigen auf Bilder mit Japanischen Begriffen klarmachen was er/sie möchte.(Ich suche eine Apotheke, möchte einen Apfel kaufen, die Sehenswürdigkeit xy sehen).Sehr praktisch.
