Good product
Good product, good price, quick delivery. Live in the forest, works well in full darkness with IR, but for covert use I bought a separate 940 nm IR light that I hook up to the rail included on the unit. The IR built into the unit does show up as a fairly bright red light even at several hundred feet. I used a small Pulsar PL79076 940 IR Night Vision Flashlight I also got on Amazon, and it works well for us. Do not need the IR if the moon is out, as it works pretty well as a starlight scope. Hooked it up to our security camera DVR, worked fine, but can not use it for any thing but short term as it times out and shuts down to quickly to be of any use. Wish their was a way to over ride the auto timeout shut off. Also wish it had a jack to hook up a external power supply for long term use about the home. If it did it could double as a security camera, and could also leave it out to catch the elk when they make their night time raids on the fruit trees. I use rechargeable batteries and have a extra set with me when I go out to use it, as the battery life is not all that long, and is nice to have something to get back on the bear or whatever if the batteries go south on you. on board photo and motion camera recording are not all that bad for the price. We are happy with ours, I would recommend it I recon.

Very cool and tons of fun!!!
I've read the reviews and researched the different types and all the brands and yada yada. After much debate, I elected to go digital versus conventional. In that department, these seemed to fit the bill better than most of the others. Pro's Very tough, Nice picture (Once focused-more on that), Ability to take photos and video. Ability to turn off the IR, Ability to see more than 50 yards(It does), Ability to rifle mount(It does with mount available through bushnell, Not that I would, but), Above all, it actually works at night. (It does and it does it very well. Cons Its a battery hog. (They all are) A little heavy (Not really an issue) Magnification is quite high so field of view can become an issue if you aren't prepared. (Prevalent in all of them unless you want to spend thousands) You might ask why I didn't get the 3X? Because you cant take pictures or video with it. That's about it. On to the focus. First, there are many ways to adjust brightness in this unit, so don't let the other reviews that complain talk you out of it. It does exactly what its supposed to. You need to follow the directions on how to focus this and the other units. First turn on and focus the eye piece to the lcd inside the unit. Then, never touch it again unless someone else uses it, then just refocus when you use it. Then, focus the lens out to the distant, or near, object. That's all there is to it, hit record for video or picture if desired and have fun in the dark! This thing is awesome but you might want to get some rechargeable batteries i'm thinkin'.... The photo is from my living room couch to the sink in total darkness, about 30 feet, without IR and only ambient light from the windows.

Great NV For The Money.
This is a really good product for the money. Here are the things I did not really like though. 1)- Don't expect to be able to look out your window on a dark night and see much. On a night without a bright moon you will need the illuminator and it will not work through the window (you will only see the reflection of the bright 'light'). If you step outside and turn on the illuminator - WHOA! It is impressive what you can see. 2)- It takes a lot of focusing. If you go from looking at something 40 feet away to something 100 feet away you will need to crank on the lens quite a lot to get the focus right. It is not a fast focus like some of my binoculars either. You have to turn the lens several turns for even short distance changes. It is very awkward to do with one hand so if you are carrying something in the other hand you will probably need to set it down. 3)- The view. You are really only looking into a small digital screen inside of the body of the camera. It is not like a viewfinder on a digital camera though where it fills the entire view. It is more like a viewfinder at the end of a toilet paper roll. It is really pretty far away and it gives the effect of looking at a screen at the end of a hallway or something. It does not fill your whole view. Thinks I like: 1)- The illuminator is awesome. Works very well even at long distances. 2)- Very solid feel. Nice rubberized texture. It feels very durable. I'm not scared to just toss it in the jeep and drive around. 3)- The price. 4)- Long battery life 5)- Ability to record video & images right from the camera. 6)- Close up viewing capability. I was worried that you would not be able to see close up things but you can. I focused on things as close as 4-5 feet without problems (lots of focusing though).

A-MAZING. Must buy!
This is one of the best online purchases I have ever made. My husband is in law enforcement and has gear that cost hundreds to a couple thousand dollars. This IR Vision monocular does just as well as his gear. There's definitely a learning curve as far as focusing the lense goes. Being experienced with IR, he knew how to work it right away and was able to teach me. When scanning across an area, you have to adjust the lense depending on the depth of what is directly in front of you. It's a slight adjustment and once you get used to it, you don't even realize your finger is auto-adjusting. I bought an IR flashlight to go with this and ended up returning it because it did not need any help. The IR works great. I could easily see 300 yrds across a clear cut zone. The only complaint I have is that the video setting does not work for me. But as that is a feature I wouldn't use anyways, I am not upset about it. I had never used a Bushnell before and was so impressed with this product that when I bought a rangefinder a few weeks later, I bought the more expensive Bushnell because I was certain it would be a good product and I was not disappointed. Highly recommend.

You have to know what you are getting before you are disappointed. The device is 4.5x base zoom with a 3x digital zoom. That is too much base zoom to expect to be able to walk around with it in front of your face. However on a steady tripod or from a sitting position it works amazingly well. You cant beat the cost to capability ratio on this item. In my limited experience i would list it as close to Gen2-2+. The IGen 20/20 is a Gen 3-3+ equal type digital monocular but it is a lot more money. A bunch of the guys at the range have different toys like this. I would not switch to any of them for the price. Now some have night vision rifle scopes (ATN) and those are pretty cool but cost becomes an issue. I am incredibly happy with this purchase and it will tide me over until I can afford a FLIR scope.
