Robert and Katherine Thorn seem to have it all. They are happily married and he is the US Ambassador to Great Britain, but they want nothing more than to have children. When Katharine has a stillborn child, Robert is approached by a priest at the hospital who suggests that they take a healthy newborn whose mother has just died in childbirth. Without telling his wife he agrees. After relocating to London, strange events - and the ominous warnings of a priest - lead him to believe that the child he took from that Italian hospital is evil incarnate.

2006 version. NOT the original.
I tried to purchase the 1976 original film NOT the 2006 film. It came up and I clicked on it. It was only after I'd made the purchase that it said 2006. Very disappointed as I don't want the modern remake, I want the classic original version. Stuck with it now.

This is not the Original
My mistake in buying this as I didn't check the full details. I searched for The Omen and saw this included with Damien Omen II & the Final Conflict so purchased it....it is not the 1976 Original, it is a poor remake lacking atmosphere but with a dire score and some tragic overacting. Check, check and check again before you buy.

Original is Better but only slightly
Been watching a new series on sky DAMIEN which is based on the OMEN films and features flashbacks from the first film, this made me want to watch the original (1976) version again and perhaps purchase all 3 films to enjoy again.The 1976 version of THE OMEN isn’t available through Amazon prime to rent or buy so I thought I would give the remake a go which are usually worse than the original and so a waste of money.However I was pleasantly suprised, the remake is virtually the same film with newer actors/ actresses taking the roles and with some of the deaths of Damiens victims being slightly different to the Original.If you don’t remember the original or haven’t seen it at all this is a worthy introduction to the omen trilogy in place of the original film.

Misleading
I was looking for the original 1976 Omen, saw this advertised right next to Omen II and III. Why wouldn't I think this was the original? I didn't even know there was a remake until I started playing it and realised something was off in the first minute. I didn't remember this first scene... so I checked and discovered it was a remake which I was NOT interested in. Of course, now that I've played 1 minute of it, I can't get my money back even though I have no intention of ever watching it. Not cool, Amazon!
