This is a great charger and way easier to lug around and pack than the standard multivolt chargers. Fantastic alternative options and I've been loving it so far. When I saw this I knew I had to give it a shot. I am a Contractor/Business Owner and I am always on the run from one job to another or back and forth from home to wherever I am working and then there are the emergency service calls that I have to fit in somewhere in my chaos. Point being I am always moving. I have been carrying around two M12/M18 Rapid Chargers with me on the truck and they are big and clumsy and take up tons of space in a box or bag so I tend to leave them on the truck so I don’t have to deal with them…but then I have to always run out to the truck to get one or both at some point. Enter in this little genius charger! IT IS SMALL and it fits in a bag, tote or box EASY and it is always with me everywhere I go from now on! I love having it and having a charger with me at all times. Saves time and trips to the truck while working and keeps me productive. I wish I found this years ago. I do recommend it. It charges everything M18 that I have put on just fine and it is easy to pack up when I am done with it and toss it in whatever load out I am using at the time. I would order this again in a half of a heartbeat! It has been a wonderful addition to my tooling collection and now that I have it I refuse to go without one so I may have to order a couple back ups at some point. A++++++ item, for real! I’d forgotten my charger in Kentucky and was working in Maryland. Because the big ones are so expensive, I bought this small one. Tim way long to charge a battery, but the battery never showed it had been charged. Frankly, a waste of money.

It is my strong belief that no charger should ever be used if it does not automatically protect batteries from over-voltage, over-charging and overheating. I now suspect that the description of this charger tricked me into ordering it. When I saved this Amazon page I edited one of the representations into English that was clearer: "Intelligent protection system monitors battery status, protecting against over-charge, over-discharge, over-heating, over-current, over-voltage, short circuit etc." I took the meaning to be that the charger provides intelligent protection that monitors the battery and AUTOMATICALLY protects against over-charging, over-heating, over-current, over-voltage, short circuit, etc." The actual unedited word salad was less clear: "intelligent protection system can monitor each battery status, protect your battery from insecurity issues caused by over-charge, over-discharge, over-heating, over-current, over-voltage, short circuit etc" My reading was reasonable, especially given that an image expressly proclaims "over voltage protection, over-heating protection, etc. It now appears to me that the charger merely has some informational LED lights to MONITOR the battery. There is nothing on the charger that explains those lights, but an image in the listing says that a red light means "charging", a flashing red light means "poor connect or over high temperature," and a flashing green light means "over-discharging." (How a charger could cause over-discharging is left to your imagination.) My impression is that if your battery is overcharging, or being charged too fast, and is overheating, the charger will merely cause a red LED to flash, indicating high temperature, and will start an internal fan to protect the CHARGER, but won't automatically lessen the amperage or stop the charging. It would be up to you to stand by the charger while it is in use and to promptly disconnect it when it is charged, or if a light says it is over-heating. Otherwise your expensive battery might be destroyed. It appears to me that just a few manufacturers make Milwaukee-style aftermarket chargers that are, under a variety of brand names, sold on Amazon. There are no prior reviews of this particular offering. Apparently identical chargers offered on Amazon under different brand names have a few reviews, which say things like "didn't work, don't waste your money," and that indicate that this device is not safe: it bypasses the battery's internal charging circuitry and cannot monitor the battery health. There is risk of damage or even fire and explosion." Another says "it will not charge any of my Milwaukee batteries, quite to the contrary it drains them." Don't look for clarification from any user manual. There is none. My charger came with a small box insert printed almost microscopically. I scanned it at 600 dpi in order to read it. It was then apparent that the insert wasn't even for a charger; it was for a battery conversion device. Buy a real Milwaukee charger. They automatically protect your Milwaukee batteries, are stronger, and are almost the same price.
