Seems well made, robust, and watertight, well balanced, comfortable with some unique features. Good value for money
This is my second Ring automotive product and this is the second time I have been pleased with the result. There are many head torches out on the market at the moment, and this one had some added functions that made it stand out from the crowd.I liked the battery pack at the back of the unit, it feels like it balances the unit out whilst you are wearing it, but I have not tried it with a cycle helmet on .It has a rear light on the battery pack, again, a good cycle feature or if you are walking with a group / team. (this is independently enabled to be either on, off or flashing. )The front light housing has a good sized on /off/ function button that looks like it should be ok to get to whilst wearing gloves (not tested with gloves yet)It casts a good light, and has a zoom function to go from wide, to spot. It feels a little gimicky and I will probably leave it on a middle setting. The straps are comfortable and sit on my head well and both battery compartment and light housing have a soft pad behind them that rests against your head. The "intelligent button" takes some getting used to.You have to hold it down for 5 seconds to swap between the main white LED light, and the led functions. Once you have it on the main function you are wanting to use, you then need to press the button in quick succession to put it into the right "mode".So, on the main white light, you have four modes, Bright, slightly dimmer, flashing, and off.On the LED mode, there are three separate LED's and these scroll through blue, green, red, red(flashing) and off.the battery compartment takes three double AA batteries, and these are simple to install, but follow the instructions for opening the battery compartment as it is an unusual design (might be tricky with cold fingers or gloves on) But the top of the battery cover is attached with a retaining strip of plastic, so if you are doing the battery change in the dark, you won't lose the top of the battery compartment..All in all another Win for Ring Automotive.

BROKE AFTER 6 MONTHS
This broke after 6 months. The wire going from the battery to the front lamp has a loose connection. Poor quality.

Bright - but too fragile for every day use.
A good head torch - nice and bright white main light, and easy to change the focus on this. The colour LED's are a gimic more than anything else - who walks around at night with a dim blue or green light? Even the red is of limited utility - the best I can say is that it makes the dogs look evil at night when their eye's glow bright red when the look at you!So - why just three stars? The reason - it's too fragile! I've had two of these now - when the first broke I immediately bought another. But I won't be buying a third - the first two have broken in exactly the same way - the cable that carries the power from the battery pack to the rear of the head round to the bulbs on the front breaks internally and there's no way to get into the unit to fix it. And that's with fairly delicate use - just walking the dog a couple of times a day in the winter months. Two down in three years (they always break just out of warranty!), I won't be buying a third. I've bought an LED Lenser instead - which doesn't have the cable running back to front so hopefully won't be so easily broken.

Still bright
This head light has so far only been used the once, but in totally unlit countryside when spectating on a car rally at night. It is comfortable to wear - you are not conscious that it is on your head and it stays in place. Not having used one before it is a little difficult to comment on its relative performance vis a vis light intensity -the beam is adjustable for spread and angle - I would have liked it to be a bit brighter, but having said that it was much better than the light being given off from another head light (apparently a less costly one) being worn by another of the party. Battery life looks like it will be ok as after an evening of (not continuous) use the light is still bright. The rear light will be useful for cyclists being higher up when worn by a cyclist and therefore more in the line of sight of other drivers, but I think in addition to the bike lighting to be fully compliant. As regards the three coloured LED's on the front, possibly less useful, except perhaps for map reading at night.

Used for running - fit for purpose
I bought this head torch primarily to take out running on dark winter mornings. Previously I bought a cheap one that was on sale and it fell apart after a couple of months. This one is great. The strap is comfortable and doesn't slip when I'm running - even on my small head! Having the battery at the back makes it well balanced. The adjustable light positions are really useful - I can point down to check for uneven ground or ahead to see where I'm going. The light stays in the position you move it to, which was a problem with the cheaper head torch - when running the light would slip downwards. The red light at the back is a useful safety feature if you're running on a road. I would definitely recommend this head torch as good value for money - I've had it for a few months now and use it two or three times a week and it shows no sign of wear and the original batteries are still going as well.

Blinding!
I'd been referred to this by a friend, as I was in need of a headtorch for 24hr off-road running event. Delivered very quickly, and with Energiser batteries instead of cheapie ones, I was already impressed. After turning it on, I pretty much blinded myself too, so I had no doubts the torch would be bright.Come race day, I was running in the countryside and through dense forest with no additional illumination, and the torch performed brilliantly, illuminating all the dips, holes, branches and tree-roots that attempted to trip me up. I had the beam on 'flood', and it was quite enough to brighten the path, but at one point I did focus the beam and was impressed at how far a ray of light shot into the distance!I didn't really use the flashing or colour functions, but the rear red light was useful for those following me.Great piece of kit, and not at all cumbersome for running with.
