Keeps my Garage Poker Games Smoke-Free!
My garage has been host to a weekly poker game for the past 5 years. Several of my friends who attend the game (myself included) smoke cigars, and it got to the point that we had to open the garage doors or prop a cheap box fan in an open window to get the smoke out of there. Keep in mind, we play music and are pretty loud, so leaving the garage door open late at night on a neighborhood street was a no-go. Additionally, I live in the Northeast, and leaving windows/doors open became very problematic in the winter. I stumbled across this unit, and my father-in-law (who's an electrician) and I mounted it near the peak of an external wall in my garage, and wired it to a switch. Took less than an hour to install, but your experience may vary depending on your comfort level with that kind of work. This thing moves some serious air. During the Summer, we run it continuously for about 6-7 hours (depending on how late our Friday poker game goes) and it has never skipped a beat, and keeps the room clear. During bitter cold winter poker games, we turn it on intermittently throughout the night, as this thing moves so much air, if we left it on all night the room would be freezing. If we open a door or window on the opposite side of the garage while this thing is running, it clears the room of smoke in under a minute. The fan itself is relatively quiet considering how much air it moves. This unit has been a godsend to my weekly poker game with my buds and I've used it for the better part of 3 years. I can't comment on it's performance if you used it all day, every day, but for the 6-7 hours a week that I've used mine, it's never once had a problem. I would recommend this to anyone!

A Great Buy!
I received this fan yesterday, and given some of the less positive reviews found here, I inspected it closely. It arrived well packaged and undamaged. It really is all-metal construction, nicely painted and tightly assembled. The frame is heavy duty for this fan size, and comes with vibration-dampening mounting grommets in the four corners. The shutters operate smoothly and quietly. I plugged the fan in using the attached 24-inch cord and plug, and left it running for 5 hours. (Just to "run it in", ya know.) The fan runs very quietly, and has a good strong air flow. After five hours the fully-enclosed motor was very, very slightly warm to the touch. My garage ambient temperature was about 75 degrees, and the fan motor seemed to be well cooled just by the air flow. This fan will work well for my purposes, and I am impressed by the quality received considering the low price paid. Give this one a try! I bet you will not be sorry!

Works well- move a lot of air
Have had it now for several months in the greenhouse and with the warm weather it has been turning on daily with a temp remote switch. I Like the heavy metal construction and the unit really seems to move a lot of air. One minor issue is that the flaps do not seal very well when closed. No big problem, but if you are concerned about a tight fit , i.e. keeping cold air out of your greenhouse etc., then you may want to try something else or just seal the unit during the winter months. Overall, great unit and does what it says.

Product is great, packaging/shipping is not.
I received this DAMAGED! as I'm sure many others have. It comes in a box where it is not properly supported and, for that reason, any jolt (like someone dropping the box into a shipping truck) will bend the metal braces that mount the fan onto the frame. That is exactly what happened to me. As soon as I opened the box, I saw what had happened. The fan was not perfectly centered on the hole, it was at a slight angle. Nevermind the fact that the louvers were also bent out of shape and completely unusable (I wasn't going to need them though). The first thing I did was take off the louvers, which is fairly easy to do, as I was going to mount this fan onto my gable that already has its own louvers. Then I had to forcibly bend the fan back to its original angle. I definitely did not succeed in this, but it is good enough, and with a heat wave coming, I couldn't send it back and request a replacement (I probably should have, but it probably would've arrived damaged like this one or even worse).I mounted the fan onto my desired location, taking into consideration the bend of the brackets and pointing the fan in my prefered direction, and plugged it in.It works like it should, it does what it's supposed to and, so far, I'm satisfied with the results. I'm not happy that it came damaged. I don't normally subtract from a products rating due to shipping damage, but this time it is the fault of the manufacturer because it is not packaged properly, hence why I took off one star. Otherwise, it is a solid product that does what it is supposed to do.

People at Amazon Ive spoken with on the phone are very nice.
Great fan for my garage. The controller unit I bought with the fan failed. I thought it was the fan so ordered another. Then discovered it wasn't the fan after all so I RETURNED THE REPLACEMENT FAN 2'3 WEEKS AGO. But I just got your email to return the fan so wanted to be sure you knew it was already returned and should've been rec'd 2 weeks ago. Thank you. The 2nd controller works fine. In hindsight I could've just used a small outlet timer instead of the controller with remote. Thanks again.

BUYER BEWARE Don't bother with this. Seems like a deal until it breaks.
Don't bother.Bought this for a 10x12 shed that my little mini horse is in. Didn't move any air at all. My bad as it states it's only 400 CFM, which basically means does nothing. Should have researched that better. That is NOT why I gave this 1 star.1 star because after 2 months of being in my barn and running about 12 hours a day, it no longer works.Waiting to hear back from Amazon about warranty information, but I'm assuming the $80+ I spent will not be returned. Also, on arrival it was bent and my husband had to bend it back to shape so the fins wouldn't hit the shudders. It is NOT quiet by any means. Actually pretty loud for such a small fan. This would be one of my worst purchases on Amazon. BUYER BEWARE
