DSD TECH SH-U11 USB to RS485 RS422 Converter with FTDI FT232R Chip Work for Modbus

This is a great USB -> RS-422 / RS-485 Adapter. It can connect to 4 wire RS-422, as well as 2 or 4 wire RS-485. For my application it worked perfectly to communicate on my test bench over RS-422 with two different types of Red Lion HMIs. The screw terminals were easy to use and held the bus wires securely. The chipset is FT-232R and I already had the driver installed on my computer so the installation was plug and play. It had three LEDs indicating power, as well as TXD and RXD which blink when there is data on the line. I am not sure if the RXD LED is active in standard 2 wire RS-485 as I did not need it for my application. NOTE: If you are connection to 4 wire RS-485 or RS-422, make sure that you connecting the TX lines of the other device / bus to the RX lines of the adapter first. Check to see if you are seeing incoming traffic on the LEDs, in a serial terminal, or with your application. If you do it backwards, you will see incoming messages but you will not be able to transmit replies on the correct lines and will probably corrupt / collide with the transmission of the master(s) on the bus. The adapter is able to recognize that there is traffic on it's RX lines and auto-configures itself for 4 wire operation. If it sees incoming traffic on the TX lines it configures itself for two wire RS-485 mode.

Bought this as a USB to RS485 DMX interface using QLC+ to test a moving head light for church. Working flawlessly so far.

This works as expected. I used it to program a Whelen MPC01 controller that uses serial communications. The blue wire goes to tx+ and the grey to tx-. also, ground on the usb to 12v-. I used the included CD to install the driver onto a Windows 7 laptop and it worked great.

I put this product in harsh environment for more than 2 months, and it is working perfectly.

Worked first time. Easy to use. It became COM4 on Windows 11 without requiring any driver installation.
