Gentle comedy .

what I love it about this great film is the way capture the atmosphere on the story: Italy, the Argentinian Tango, love, literature, politics, etc. Is like we would like to be right there sharing the plot with them and be in the movie. In my opinion Is a classic on their own merit. and very romantic film that leave you filling good inside yourself. wont be disappointed and you would enjoy watching this film again, again, and again.......

A lovely film, beautifully directed and acted..slow , meaningful and touching . A classic ...

You need this romantic, emotional, clever and sad film in your life. Don't be put off by the fact that you'll need to read the subtitles as this won't detract from your viewing. It's not an overly complex story but it is life affirming and will make you want to visit the Aeolian Islands of Italy where it is set. I've not said much about the film for fear of ruining the story but it is very much a tale of romance and of friendship. It'll leave you with a lump in your throat but you'll also feel fulfilled.

This movie has subtitles. It has a beautiful setting It is well acted. The story is heart warming and engaging. We have watched it many times. One to keep.

this is such a recognised and highly rated movie that I think having a physical copy (rather than rely on a digital stream) is warranted. I love it. it brings me back to a fabulous era of movie making that sadly we will never see again

Non seulement les acteurs son excellents, mais c'est le mélange de la poésie, d'une ambiance exceptionnelle, d'une subtilité de tous les instants et d'un humour frais, qui semble vraiment spontané, qui séduit. Bon, l'un des deux principaux acteurs est décédé avant la fin du tournage, mais il tenait énormément à jouer ce personnage et il est génial dans ce rôle. C'est un tour de force d'avoir réussi à compléter le film malgré cet événement tragique – un tour de force réussi.

I had recalled "Il Postino" making a bit of a splash at the Academy Awards about a dozen years ago. It certainly got more mention at that awards ceremony than most foreign language films before or after. I knew it had something to do with Pablo Neruda, the great Chilean poet and, of course, a postman. I couldn't understand the Italian title since I presumed that it took place on a Chilean island. All that and more unravelled before me last night as I found out for myself why "Il Postino" was so talked about 12 years ago. This is a beautiful movie that says so much on so many levels. It is the story of a simple man who finds the courage to seak out his own greatness. It is the story of a great man who finds the humility to seakout his own simplicity. It is a movie full of life, laughter, sadness and humanity. "Il Postino" generally comes across as a light comedy but we eventually are confronted with an opposite emotion. I was sorry, initially, that the movie switched gears the way it did until I realized that the force of its' impact would only have been diluted any other way. The acting in "Il Postino" is superb all around with top kudos going to the title character, the actor who plays Neruda, and Beatrice's mother. The converations between these first two alone were worth the price of the DVD. This is a movie I will keep and watch many more times.

Nachdem mein Lieblings-Urlaubsort Procida ist, konnte ich nicht umhin, mir diesen Film anzuschaffen. Und er hat mich nicht enttäuscht! Sprache wahlweise deutsch und italienisch. Wunderbare Schauspieler! Die Geschichte zog mich in ihren Bann; ich werde ihn sicher noch öfters ansehen.
