This sucks...in a good way!
This is pretty cool!A lot gentler than a bulb syringe. You place it into the nose and it creates a vacuum to suck all the boogies out with a gentle constant suction. The battery consumption is o.k. I wish it had a way of shutting off when it couldn't draw full power. When you think its not working so well, change the batteries and your golden. This is a huge draw back for me. We can get several weeks out of one set of batteries and we use this often. It vibrates a lot and almost tickles which is a draw back. My son would still hate this thing no matter what!

Worth its weight in gold! Definitely recommend this!
We bought this when our 2mo had a cold with a runny nose...and it was awesome! She actually liked it, and let us REALLY clean out her nose! It works really easily and only takes a time or two to feel comfortable enough with it to really root around and get the boogies out. It does actually pull out quite a bit, and it really makes a difference in the ability to breathe! Cleaning is no big deal--I just take the pieces apart and boil them in the microwave in a glass measuring cup for a minute, then let them air-dry on a paper towel. I was afraid putting it back together would be confusing, but after doing it once, it's no big deal. There are three very slight drawbacks, but as you can see from my five-stars, they don't diminish my rating at all.1. When you use the attachment with the smaller hole, it can't suck up bigger boogies. The wet mucus-y stuff is just fine, but you just have to get the big boogie far enough out where you can reach it with a wipe.2. The attachments are a cloudy color, so it's hard to see if you're getting anything out...until it passes through to the clear area. And sometimes stuff gets stuck in there.3. The pieces fit together quite tightly--do NOT attempt to unscrew them with even damp hands. At first I thought it was just me being an idiot and not being able to do it right...until I tried with completely dry hand and it was much easier. You do still have to use a little oomph, but dry hands are the key.I would recommend this to ANYONE.

Great idea, doesn't work
We've used many different kinds of aspirators for our infant. We've used the hospital standard bulb, the Nosefrida, and the Piyo Piyo. They all have pluses and minuses, and each have their place. When I got a stomach bug, I didn't want to use the Nosefrida or Piyo Piyo for fear of making my wife or baby sick, and the bulb syringe wasn't working well. Thus, after reviewing the options, I bought the ZoLi on the basis of the reviews. It seemed like people generally liked it, aside from the usual few detractors. We've had it for about a week now, and I find myself puzzled to see how there could be so many positive reviews.First, right out of the box, I put in some fresh batteries and pulled the trigger - nothing happened. After cycling the trigger switch about 20 times, the pump finally came on. It's probably just some oxidation on the switch contacts, but it's disheartening when it takes troubleshooting right out of the box. So anyway, the pump works, and putting my finger over the nozzle, it's clear that it will develop some suction. So far, so good? After cleaning the tip, the baby sounded snotty, so I thought I'd give it a try, and nothing. The pump whirred, and nothing came out of the baby. I then used the bulb syringe, and lots of snot came out. Over the last week, we've tried it on snot thick and thin to no avail. After puzzling over this a while, I know why it doesn't work well. The pump is capable of creating a reasonable amount of suction, but is not capable of moving enough air volume to suck much snot out. Some reviewers have noted that it works best on very clogged noses - this is probably because the air passage is very small, and therefore the small volume of air moved by the pump is sufficient to pull snot. If you have a mostly open airway with thin snot, the volume of air moved doesn't create enough velocity in the larger passage to pull the snot with it.If you're familiar with air compressors, you know that specific tools require both pressure (PSI) and volume (CFM) to operate properly. A simple bicycle hand pump can create high pressure, but has little volume capacity. A table fan can move lots of volume, but can create little pressure. The ZoLi's problem is that it creates suction, but cannot move enough volume. In thinking about this more, I'm not sure that a compact, battery powered device could move enough air volume and generate enough suction to accomplish this goal.So... we'll see what happens when things get really clogged, but for most occasions, it's a really expensive gizmo that doesn't work that well.Update - after a pretty decent run of severe congestions, I've found that it will pull snot out of a completely clogged nose, but that's about it. The trigger switch stopped working (fewer than 20 uses), and the reservoir allows stuff to get sucked into the pump way too easily - the gunk from one nostril is all it takes.

def. fixes nasal congestion
i have the worst allergy symptoms, my sinus stuffs up completely. i have found claritin d 12, sudafed 12, nasalcrom, and neti pot to be effective in relieving sinus problems; however, this last week has been the worst week ever for allergies for me, my sinus was completely stuffed up and my neti pot rinse for the first time didn't work. i would hold it on one nostril and it would not go through the other. it was totally clogged. i did my research for an aspirator and came across this one and decided to give this a try, paid next day air. got it today, it def. cleared my totally stuffed sinus problem. if you are not totally stuffed up, you can hold one nostril while this thing sucks the other. instructions are clear, including cleaning instructions. i would recommend anyone with stuffy nose that they are unable to blow out to try this aspirator - $30 is a small price to pay to stop the suffering!
