Question 2

Anybody has a problem opening the knife, my seem to take two hands ?

Accepted Answer

It is only safe to open with 2 hands. Otherwise, very good steel takes and holds an edge equal to my bench made. But 2 hands. Sorry

Question 3

the item depicted is the updated version. Is there assurance that this is the item that will be received?

Accepted Answer

Two things appear to be different than my SOG SlimJim (Purchased June 2015). First is the clip. Mine is a narrower width clip. The second detail I see is the lack of the small sliding device that prevents the back lock from being depressed. I think thats an OK update because ofter when I open this knife (It's an everyday carry), if the little sliding device is in the "lock" position I can't open the blade all the way until I fuss with the little slidey thing. I suppose it's a nice "safety" to keep the back lock disabled under heavy use but if this is the new design, so be it. Like I said, I carry this wonderful blade with me all the time. I don't worry about the blade, it sharpens up well, it's light and dependable. My blade has some nicks in it but the edge still comes back. I'm going to beat the snot out of this knife and then........ I'll buy another.PS: This is not a perfect knife. It might be close though. I suppose I'd know one if I met one. This knife has pinched me if I'm not aware of where my fat hand is in relation to the back of the blade when it tries to lock into position. Just a pinch though. I try to be more alert.

Question 4

Is this legal to carry in Pittsburgh, Pa?

Accepted Answer

Hello,

Thanks for your question.

We're not lawyers, and we can't offer legal advice on pocketknives, but we would kindly refer you to Pennsylvania's Title 18, Section 908: https://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/legis/LI/consCheck.cfm?txtType=HTM&ttl=18&div=0&chpt=9&sctn=8&subsctn=0 This language excludes spring assisted knives (the SlimJim is a spring assisted knife), and bans only automatic knives and daggers, and that's how we've always seen it interpreted, but the final call is left to the law.

We hope this helps, and thanks again for writing to us!
