## Description

Our taster set is the perfect entry to printmaking using soft polymer linoleum style blocks!The set contains the essential tools and equipment to learn the craft of block printing relief carving. The kit contains 4 sheets of our popular polymer blocks, a 60mm brayer roller, lino handle and 5 cutters in assorted styles.The soft double sided polymer blocks that are easier and safer to carve than traditional lino blocks. They make an excellent introduction to lino printing. The polymer material does not crumble and sharp lines can be cut for high-definition prints using standard lino cutters and carving tools.Blocks will not distort under printing pressure.Sheets are approximately 3mm in thickness and can be used on either side.Each kit contains 2 of our soft (grey) sheets and 2 of our extra soft (blue) sheets each sized 100 x 150mm.Also included is a sturdy 60mm lino roller – also known as a brayer - for transferring prints to paper.To carve your designs into the sheets use the red lino cutter handle which has an interchangeable head to fit all five cutting shapes of nibs Included: No 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.Please note: Block printing ink is not supplied in this kit.Pack contains:2 x 150 x 200mm Soft Polymer Blocks – Grey2 x 150 x 200mm Extra Soft Polymer Blocks – Blue60mm Brayer RollerRed Handle5 x Cutter Nibs – Nos 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Review: Nice little kit! - This is a great beginners set to see if you enjoy lino-cutting and there are enough pieces that you can give all the different blades and surfaces a try. You will need to buy ink/paint separately. I much prefer carving with the blue blocks because they're easier on the hands! Blades are sharp enough to get through the kit, though probably would need sharpening/replacing if you used them any more than this. A decent kit for the money!

The blades fit into the handle with a collar that twists to lock the blade in place. The brayer/roller works great and it includes 4 pieces of lino, which aren't cheap to buy even on their own. The lino comes in 2 grades of hardness, and in my experience, both work much the same, the only difference I've found is just preference in terms of how easily the blade cuts (the complexity of a print may lend itself to a firmer or softer lino, as you can have a little more control with a slower cut). Considering what's included, I think this is a really good value starter set at £14.99 - you just need to do a little research into which inks you prefer and will work best for your project.

This is a great beginners set to see if you enjoy lino-cutting and there are enough pieces that you can give all the different blades and surfaces a try. You will need to buy ink/paint separately. I much prefer carving with the blue blocks because they're easier on the hands! Blades are sharp enough to get through the kit, though probably would need sharpening/replacing if you used them any more than this. A decent kit for the money!
