All purpose....3 different color temperature modes so if you're an artist that can be a big deal. For me I just pick the most comfortable color temperature for my eyes. I like the different power options...USB or the included 110V plug in. I also like the clip on mounting AND the option of using a flat base that the clip locks into. Very versatile. I sue this as a work lamp for fine detail work in a limited space.
