HyperX Alloy Rise – Hot-Swappable Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, PC, Ambient Light Sensor, Gasket Mounted, HyperX Linear Switches

The HyperX Alloy Rise is hands down the best mechanical gaming keyboard I have ever owned. From the moment I unboxed it, I knew I had found something special. The build quality is robust and premium, ensuring durability and unmatched performance during long gaming sessions. One of the standout features is its hot-swappable capability, allowing me to change the linear switches without the need for any desoldering. This functionality has given me the freedom to customize my typing and gaming experience to a level I had never experienced before. The ambient light sensor is a classy and innovative touch, automatically adjusting the backlighting according to room conditions. This not only enhances visibility but also adds a spectacular ambiance while gaming. The gasket-mounted design offers a soft and cushioned typing feel, making each keystroke a pleasure. PC connectivity is seamless, and the keyboard responds quickly and accurately to every command. Additionally, the linear switches are incredibly smooth and quiet, perfect for distraction-free gaming. Overall, I would recommend the HyperX Alloy Rise to any serious gamer or keyboard enthusiast. It is worth every penny for its quality and customization capabilities. I got this keyboard just over a year ago in May of 2025 and have unfortunately had nothing but issues with it since it arrived. While the construction and layout of the keyboard are great, my primary issues with it have stemmed from major key registration issues that are mentioned in several other reviews. Over the past year, I started to notice that I would increasingly get double/triple key registrations and non-registrations from certain keys. I tried everything to remedy this, including changing out the switches twice, making sure the firmware was updated, and factory resetting the board multiple times. Despite all of my attempts, the board continued to have these issues, which became quite annoying as a student who was constantly typing up lab reports and other assignments. Even with all of these issues, I lived with the board because it was good enough and I was well outside of the return window. This was until this week, when I reached my breaking point with the board. My last straw was the red and green diodes completely and spontaeously dying out on the enter key, which is pictured above. Not only did this board fail to consistently register keys, which is the bare minimum for any keyboard, it also managed to have one of the LEDs become completely useless in just over a year. In addition to these issues, it's also worth mentioning that the software designed to control this keyboard, HyperX NGENUITY, is probably the worst piece of bloated shovelware I've ever had the opportunity to download and use. Not only is it incredibly resource intensive for no apparent reason, it simply doesn't work half the time and can't seem to properly save any settings to the keyboard's onboard memory. It often felt as if I was Sisyphus working against this software, but instead of pushing a boulder up a hill I was pushing macros and light configurations into this garbage software just for it to not properly save anything. This keyboard is in warranty, but I will not be RMAing it for another piece of inconsistent garbage. I'd recommend anyone reading this to go take a look at a non-gaming keyboard brand instead. I switched to a board of a similar price from another well-known company and I can already tell it's of much higher quality overall.

I am honestly very impressed with the quality of this keyboard. The keys feel smooth when typing optimizing overall performance and the RGB backlighting looks sick! I really like the dedicated media controls and how easy it is to set up this keyboard. It comes with a usb C power cable which in my opinion could be a bit longer. It also comes with a tool to help remove the keys. This keyboard has a lot of customization options and for the price I think it’s a great deal!

I think it is a great keyboard - I enjoy everything about the switches, keycaps, lighting, features, software and it's appearance. It has a very great typing feel and has performed perfectly with gaming and work. My only complaint is that I feel the magnetic cover could have slightly stronger magnets. Other than that, I love this keyboard and look forward to using it for many years to come!

Awful product, D key is unresponsive after loss than a year of regular use. This Keyboard is way too expensive, broke to easily, kept glitching out after putting my computer in sleep mode, was so loud while typing that my friends could hear it over my mic even when I adjusted the sensitivity. The only plus I will give it is that it is comfortable to use when it’s working and not glitching every few seconds.

The keys feel great...when they work. They intermittently fail to respond or respond multiple times and there seems to be no solution for it. Extremely frustrating and I can't recommend a product that fails at such a basic function.

Crazy keyboard bought it around 5.5k, it's not wireless for this price it should have been wireless

I love how it types and feels but mine had a few keys while gaming, it lags or I stop moving while holding certain direction to move. I went onto their support page and apparently its a common issue, they dont have a fix for it. Also you suppose to be able to program some keys but that program can't even dectect my keyboard and yes it is another common issue hyperx support have no answer for. Item returned

Great keyboard. Although I miss my extra num pad keys and the normal way to shift delete things, this is a very good keyboard. Response times are super crazy. Not the best for coding or typing though, In my opinion only.
