A Towering Achievement
Doug Scott rightly deserves his legendary status. This book cements his climbing achievements and also illuminates his honesty. He is as fearless in his self assessment as he is on a climb. Added to this is compelling social commentary. I'm very much looking forward to the next volume.

British legend
Have read three climbing/mountaineering books recently by Fawcett Moffat and Scott 3 people way beyond the top of their game but each person demonstrating very different personalities illustrated through their writing. I like this book because Scott seems so considered thinking through in a lot of detail. He also makes things sound a bit easy which could be misleading. I do really think he embodies everything that every mountaineer would like to have....drive, wisdom and ability to cope with altitude. It's just a great he takes you into places with people most of us can just dream about.

Doug Scott -Up and about.
Excellent read by a master of his art. One of Britain's most experienced and well known climbers who now spends a great deal of time doing charitable work. I've been at a few of his talks as he travels the UK to raise funds for the aforementioned charity..These in themselves are entertaining. Big book, Worth every penny.
