Review: Amazing Handbook For First-Time Dads - When we found out we were expecting, I quickly realized there was a lot I didnโt know. Most of the pregnancy information we came across was understandably geared toward moms, so I wanted something that explained things from a dadโs perspective without making it overly complicated. This book was exactly what I was looking for. I really liked how it breaks the pregnancy down into manageable sections instead of throwing everything at you at once. I could read along as the pregnancy progressed and get an idea of what was happening, what was coming next, and most importantly, what I could actually do to support my partner. Itโs informative without feeling like a textbook. There were plenty of little things I wouldnโt have thought to ask about or prepare for on my own, and I found myself bringing up things I had read with my partner afterward. What I appreciated most was simply feeling more involved and prepared. Pregnancy can feel like unfamiliar territory when itโs your first child, and having something written specifically with dads in mind helped take away some of that uncertainty. If youโre becoming a dad for the first time and have absolutely no idea what youโre doing yet, welcome to the club. This is a pretty good place to start. Review: Really cool guide for Dads - Adrian Kulpโs book manages to be both informative and entertaining. Itโs well-organized to help fathers who are in the heart of the process, figure out their role during pregnancy and in the first months after birth. At the same time, itโs clever, funny and artistically beautiful. My kids are 4 and 5 years old, and we donโt plan to have any more (well, I donโt plan to, which is probably not the most important factor). So in one sense, Iโm not necessarily the target audience here. But I enjoyed it anyway because it brought back memories I had forgotten. I can also attest to the accuracy of some of the advice that I wish I had heeded. There are numerous examples, but one that stands out is the necessary conversation about who you want in the delivery room โ the friends and family dilemma that we didnโt address and should have. I love the various metaphors the author uses, including numerous analogies to sporting events; e.g. comparing the second trimester to running out the clock in a football game. I also enjoyed the โbrownie pointsโ section in many of the chapters, which detail some things I just didnโt know about during my wifeโs pregnancies and after; a push gift and bra shopping are a few examples. Iโm sure there have been books written from the Dadโs perspective. I donโt think there have been any books that put it all together this well. Itโs a very busy and frankly overwhelming time, and youโre really flying blind a bit especially with your first child. A guide thatโs easy to use and actually enjoyable, is something all new dads should have. And for those who have closed shop, if youโre looking to feel some nostalgia and be entertained at the same time, this book is a great choice as well.

Sweet and Helpful Gift for a New Dad
I bought this first-time dads book for my pregnant sister to give to her boyfriend, and it was a really nice gift. Since theyโre young and this is their first baby, the book was helpful without being overwhelming. It explains things in a simple and encouraging way, which made it easy for him to understand what to expect. He liked that it felt supportive and not judgmental. Overall, itโs a great gift for any first-time dad whoโs about to start this new chapter.

Huge flaw, but still good book
Huge flaw right away. Lol it says at "9 weeks" we are in the 3rd month and leaving the 1st trimester. If you were 9 weeks you'd have 3 weeks left in the first trimester and are only considered 2 months and 1 week along not 3 months.. Anyway It has helped my husband realize more what Im going through which I appreciate. I wish it accounted more for bloating in early pregnancy, and what foods the woman should avoid and have that more prevalent throughout the book. My husband is trying and I'm having a hard time eating due to aversions. He brought home and made a charcuterie board and was everything i couldn't eat. Deli meats, unpasturized soft cheeses and olives ( which i did eat the olives) . He's absolutely phenomenal at the support lately. This was the only "not boring" black and white plain book I could find that can make following your wife/partner more fun and easier to follow week by week.

this book is amazing for both dad AND mom - BUY THIS BOOK
this book so far is better than ANY book geared towards moms or first time parents. we are first time parents, and this book has been extremely informative whilst being funny and relatable. the books I've read/listened to that are geared towards moms are... kind of scary honestly. i find myself second guessing symptoms because of a stupid book, instead of being stress free, which is what expectant mommies need. also, most "first time mom" books i've read paint a male partner as a worthless dummy with a penis. my husband isn't dumb, he's just not properly informed. this book fills in ALL of the gaps we BOTH need, and leaves out any and all fear mongering. we are reading chapters by the weeks of pregnancy. i find it also validates the things that other books have failed to do. at week 4, it states "the exhaustion mom is feeling is REAL" and suggests daddy to pick up mommy's chores for the time being. this made me feel SO good because i sort of felt like i wasn't properly contributing to the household, but was too exhausted to pitch in like i normally do. i highly HIGHLY recommend this book to ANYONE who needs to be properly educated without being scared to death about "potential complications". my husband is wonderful, but sometimes i find him standing around like a sim without commands. this book helps let him know week by week how he can contribute towards OUR pregnancy. it gives him the power and confidence he needs to contribute without ME ordering him around [honestly, i'm too tired and hormonal to even do that, and i know other moms would be too]. I can't praise this book enough. GET IT NOW! :)

Very interesting and well-written!
Super informative and engaging. My wife is currently pregnant with our first kid and I read one chapter a week to follow along with her pregnancy. I appreciate that itโs broken up by weeks so I can stretch the reading out. It adds to that feeling I love that Iโm on the journey with her.

Great format and info for dads-to-be
After deciding to move forward with our pregnancy, I searched for a good pregnancy book for my husband. While he is enthusiastic and interested in learning, I knew he probably wouldn't go out of his way to do the weekly research like I do, or look in to all of the info he should without it being a little spelled out for him. I chose to buy this book because of the reviews saying that it didn't talk down to guys like many other parenting books. I think this book is great. Each week of pregnancy is covered well and succinctly. It only takes a few minutes to read an overview of the week ahead and gives good tips on how to step up their game as a partner. While it's corny at times, it doesn't talk down to the guys or treat them like idiots. My husband was gifted the book "Dude, you're going to be a Dad" and that one was pretty awful the way it talked to the reader, as if they're only concerned about themselves and oogling other women. I ended up reading "We're Pregnant!" each week to quickly update myself on what's going on with me and baby, as the What to Expect app started to get nauseating. And since this book is so easy to read and well-formatted, my husband has definitely been reading it the whole pregnancy. It's also great the the book goes beyond birth and covers the first few months too. I definitely recommend this for dads-to-be.

Very Helpful Read
This was a fantastic read and I recommend it to any first time dads. This book provided me with great insight into what my partner is going through and what to expect. Gives you lists to follow during certain milestones. It was very helpful. Calmed her to know certain things that are happening are normal. Will be recommending this to every first time dads I talk to.

Perfect book for dads to be
I ordered this book for my husband to be able to get an insight into the pregnancy and what I was going through and it was absolutely brilliant. It is very informative with plenty of facts, he loves the week by week countdown to the pregnancy and the helpful hints of what he can be doing to help me and help us prepare together. All the other father books I tried were quite patronising or seemed to be aimed at young dads or unwilling dads but this was is perfect - highly recommend it!

Navigate pregnancy as a couple smoothly
This book describes the major events in pregnancy, week by week. It also includes a fourth trimester section. It was really nice having this book because it describes how the baby evolves but also what the mum is going through and some tips for the helpful father. All in plain language, very easy to follow, and you can literally read each chapter every week.
