Great kit, straightforward to implement
I'm somewhat handy, and I felt this was easy. If you've never DIY'd anything, my suggestion is to just have a friend come over to help or offer support. The kit works, and it works well. We filled up our entire large rain barrel in just one rainshower - previously we'd just let it capture whatever fell from the sky into its open mesh top, and it was rarely if ever holding meaningful amounts of water. I've been able to eliminate the need to pull the house hose over to the garden, and am saving on my water bill. The faucets are indeed plastic, but they are well designed and easy to operate. I prefer them over the previous plastic faucets on my barrel (replaced them with these).Tip: When you cut the downspout, please wear safety goggles. I didn't at first, and then I started noticing all the metal flakes flying off from the cutter, so I stopped and put them on. You will need them!

What a fantastic way to set up a rain barrel
I wanted to set up a rain barrel so that once full, water would be redirected through the downspout and away from the house. We get a lot of water when it rains or there’s a storm in Florida. I purchased a rain barrel that was solid plastic with a small screw off cap in the top. Was concerned about how to install the spigot and hose. This kit does it all. We quickly drilled the appropriate hole for the spigot, put in the rubber fitting, screwed ion apart he spigot and voila, done. Next we placed the rain barrel in some concrete blocks identified where we needed to drill the downspout and barrel, quickly did that, installed the fitting into the downspout and barrel, attached the hose and we were done. Easy as can be. The next day we had a pseudo tropical storm and by the following day the rain barrel was full. The only issue was I did not quite center the hole in the downspout so had some small leakage on the side, fixed that with some silicone. The rain barrel is full, no leaks and the spigot works well. When we got some more rain, it flowed through the downspout. This is a great product.

does the trick
It does the trick. Easy to install and having the bits included in the kit was a plus.

Absolutely Perfect!
This kit does exactly what one would expect - it collects rain water. It was extremely easy to install. The hole saws are sharp and make short work of the barrel and the gutter downspout. Drilling the ole was easy. I deburred it afterwards to remove any sharp burrs, and the inserts fit easily and perfectly.I did not use the faucet. It's copper colored, leading me to think, from the pictures, that it was copper. Instead it's a copper colored plastic. I felt installing it would only create more problems down stream, so I didn't use it. I did locate a blue 55 gallon plastic barrel for a collection vessel, and it filled up in one rain storm the other evening! The way the inlet is structured from the downspout to the barrel allows it to stop filling at the designated height, and any excess water continues to travel down the gutter and out the downspout, acting exactly as it would had the kit not been installed.I feel this is well worth the money. The directions were very clear and easy to follow. I have zero issues or complaints. My plants love the rain water and now I don't need to worry about running out! It also comes with a plug for winterizing the downspout and barrel once the cold weather sets in.I give it 5 stars.

Works very well
I was a bit apprehensive about trying this, my other rain barrel just has the down spout directly over the barrel. Due to some location constraints (and a friend who has successfully used a diverter, I decided to try it. I liked that all of the tools came with the kit. The holes were easy to drill in both the barrel and the downspout and attachments were easy. Care must be taken to ensure the holes are level so that when the barrel is full, the water continues down the downspout. It is a bit slower to fill, but my 55 gallon barrel was full after the 1/2” of rain. I liked that once full, the water continued down the downspout, not requiring an overflow outlet on the barrel. I already had a brass faucet for the bottom so I used that, but the plastic faucet that came with the kit seemed pretty sturdy. I definitely plan to get another kit once I get another barrel

Missing parts
The kit was missing a part that I had to go to a hardware store to purchase. The packaging was sealed so it must have been a factory oversight. Works good when it is assembled. Durable, fits good and saves on water usage.

Be sure the downspout hole is above the barrel hole!
This is the second purchase of this product, a couple of years later. This kit includes the valve spigot, which is a big plus. Easy to set up. Ensure the entrance hole in the barrel is above any surrounding barrier (like a hand rail) and the hole into the down spout is above the barrel entrance hole. The down spout hole just needs to be about a half an inch or so (1/1.5 cm) above the barrel entrance. This will prevent the barrel from overflowing. We've got the 3'' x 4'' down spouts.

Works surprisingly well and is relatively easy to install
This thing is a bit of a hack, so I won't pretend that it's the most elegant solution imaginable to the question of 'how can I capture rainwater from my roof?'. But for those who decide they just want something that works with an existing gutter downspout and isn't too goofy looking, this is a very good choice. The instructions are clear, the parts all fit together as intended, and it manages to capture 80-90% of all but the most torrential flows in a downspout. And the design of the baffle is pretty brilliant; when your rain barrel is full, the flow reverts to going into the downspout without fail. I had modest expectations and this product easily exceeded them, so it was a good buy.
