- Peak Design Slide Lite Camera Strap

Like most other photographers, I had heard many good things about Peak Design's straps, but I never felt inclined to spend the money. After a while with the strap that was included with my Sony A6700, I decided I had to replace it. The strap was poor quality, it scratched my neck when I wore it (which means I didn't wear it often enough), and when I wanted to remove the strap when at home, it was a real pain. I bought the Peak Design Slide Lite to solve those problems, and it delivered on all fronts! First off, the Peak Design quick connectors are great! They are fast and easy to attach and detach from the strap, and when they're attached, they're rock solid. They don't wiggle, and I'm never afraid my camera is going to come loose. They are made of a hard plastic, and they do dangle on the camera when the strap isn't attached. If you shoot a lot of video, just know that you might want to remove the quick connects so they don't rattle against the camera frame and impact your audio. (Removing them is very easy.) The strap itself is made of the same material as a seat belt in a car. The Slide Lite doesn't have a padded portion where it sits on your neck like the regular Slide does, but it's still very comfortable! For a light rig like the A6700 with a decent sized lens, the Slide Lite is perfect. On each side of the strap, you'll find the strap adjusters. While these might look like any other adjuster you've seen, there are two key differences that make these superior. First, the ends of the strap are permanently attached to the bottom of each buckle. Second, the metal locking clasp is sized so it's easy to pull, and it locks into place with a satisfying click. This means that when you pull up on the metal clasp and pull up or down to adjust the strap, it slides easily for just the adjustment you need, and because the strap terminates at the buckle, you don't have to deal with slack strap that gets in the way. It's a great design, and it makes adjustments fast and easy. Making adjustments quick and easy is really a key feature of this strap because it lets you use the strap in multiple ways. You can just it as a traditional neck strap. You can also use it over the shoulder, a move that may require you to quickly add a little length with a quick adjustment. When you do use it over the shoulder, you can flip the part of the strap that sits on your shoulder and take advantage of the rubberized material that is incorporated into the strap so it doesn't slip off your shoulder. That rubberized material is normally on the outside of the strap so you can easily move the strap around when shooting (it doesn't get caught on your clothes), but by flipping the strap over when shoulder mounted, it keeps the camera firmly in place. You can also adjust for more length and use the strap across your chest with the camera stowed in the 3-4 (or 8-9 if you're a lefty) o'clock position near your belt. This is best done using the included bracket that mounts to the tripod socket. Using this bracket, one of the quick connectors is attached to the side of the camera and another is attached to the bracket in the tripod mount. Because Peak Design includes additional connectors with the strap, you can actually have two connectors on each side of your camera and one in the bracket so that you can easily switch between carrying modes as you see fit. If you frequently use a tripod with your camera, you can purchase the Peak Design ARCA-Swiss plate so you can attach it to your tripod even when a quick connector is attached to the bottom of the camera. I can usually find something I don't like about most things I buy, but I really can't think of anything I don't like about the Slide Lite. It exceeded my expectations in every way. Highly recommended.

This is o much better than the default strap that shipped with my Sony RX-10M5! Comfortable, easily adjustable and easy to disconnect the strap from the camera. You may be able to get cheaper but you can't get better, IMHO.

This is a massive benefit when I want to use my camera on a tripod without the strap getting in the way, or quickly swap the strap between different camera bodies or even lenses. The Anchor Links themselves are incredibly strong, rated for up to 200 lbs, providing immense peace of mind. Plus, the updated design with visible wear indicators (black, yellow, red layers) is a thoughtful touch for safety. Comfort Without Bulk: Despite its robust build, the Slide Lite remains relatively lightweight and comfortable. The internally-padded webbing distributes weight effectively, preventing that dreaded neck or shoulder strain, even during extended shooting or carrying sessions. It strikes a fantastic balance, offering ample support without being overly bulky, which is perfect for lighter cameras. Effortless Adjustability: The quick-pull adjusters are incredibly intuitive and allow for rapid length adjustments with just one hand. I bought the Slide Lite to go with my new Sony a6500 mirrorless camera. For me, the width of the strap is just right both functionally and aesthetically. It feels secure and sits comfortably either around my neck or as a sling strap (I don’t use it over one shoulder because that seems like the least secure method to me). The strap width of the Leash Lite is proportional to the size of my Sony which is more compact than a full-size DSLR. The black seat belt strapping material itself is very high quality. The sliding adjustment buckles in gun metal gray and the subtle red accents give it a handsome yet understated style. Style points are important to me. One prominent review here mentions a loosening of the base plate that goes into your camera’s tripod screw hole. This product comes with a rubbery gasket pad that is designed to add a compression/friction fit. However, even when I used that properly and really beared down on the screw, I found that it loosened a bit in a short time. It never loosened more than a 1/8 turn, but it made me nervous. I will be checking that routinely and will also see if I can find a small lock washer to keep that screw tight. I should add that I use a leather half case on my a6500. This case attaches to the camera through the same hole, and provides another “piggy back” hole for use on a tripod. Bottom line, I’m attaching the Slide Lite’s base plate to the hole on the leather case, not the camera. It may work perfectly if attached directly to the camera’s screw hole but that’s not my situation. I’m sticking with 5 stars in my rating because I’m not using the product exactly as intended, and because my issue is easily resolved by spending a few pennies on a lock washer. The Slide Lite stays on my camera almost all the time. I don’t take it off each time I put it into its case. I use an Amazon Basics sling bag and there’s just enough room for me to fit the camera and lens in there and push the loose strap in the remaining space. Other reviews say that the strap material is too stiff. Just go to your car and feel the seat belt material. If you believe that’s too stiff, then don’t be surprised when you receive your Slide Lite, because it will feel the same. To me, it’s perfect and exactly what I expected. Enough has been said to describe the design of the proprietary Anchor Link system. I will just add that my one concern before purchasing was the strength of the cords on each Anchor Link button. However when I received it and felt the stiffness and strength of that cord material, I was satisfied. It is easily sufficient for the weight of my camera even with a large lens attached. In fact it’s not just sufficient, it’s overkill but in a good, confidence-inspiring way. This is a fine product that will create additional pride of ownership every time you use it with your camera(s). To me, the price point was appropriate to the level of quality and styling it delivers. I expect to enjoy this Slide Lite for a long time.

This is the second Peak Design product I've purchased. I bought their V1 Everyday Backpack about a month ago and I was so incredibly impressed with the quality, function, and thoughtfulness of the design that I wanted to see how their other products stacked up. I normally detest camera straps, but I think my distaste comes from poorly thought-out and uncomfortable "first-party" straps. I've used a BlackRapid strap for awhile and while it's way better than a "in-the-box" stock strap I still didn't enjoy a few things about it. I figured the price was right on the Slide Lite strap so I gave it a go, expecting that quality and design might push me into using it regularly/frequently. I was correct in that assumption. This is a well put together strap that's versatile and effective. It's not perfect and I have a single complaint that I think deducts a star, but it's nearly perfect for me and my needs. I have the Slide Lite and the anchors set up for cross-body carry. One anchor on the left of the camera body and one on the right side of the Peak Design tripod plate. (OK, so, technically this is my 3rd Peak Design product. I bought the plate, too. It's also awesome.) I set it up to sling to my right hip and the first adjustment buckle pretty squarely in my chest. It's incredibly easy to grab the buckle, "open" it and lengthen or shorten the strap as necessary. The material is a smooth and tough material that's not unlike a seatbelt. In fact, I'd rather that seatbelts were made out of this stuff. There's a rubberized/grippy coating on one side so it can be flipped and the strap won't glide around on your clothing nearly as much. That would be nice if you want the camera and strap to stay more "static" with less sway. Say you're climbing around on some rocks or something for the perfect angle of that waterfall and you don't want the camera swaying around much. Tighten the strap close to your body and flip it over. The strap won't glide and the camera will be hugging your body; BOOM: more secure. So, my only complaint here comes in with the anchors and where they have to slot in. They're a little bit difficult to slot in and remove on this strap. There isn't much room between the actual strap material and the anchor's "hook" to fit the anchor disk in. I mean, it definitely FITS, it's just that another 5mm of wiggle room would make it way easier to get in and out in a hurry. The Everyday Backpack I bought came with a key tether and an anchor for your keyring so I was already familiar with the system. The key tether has a much bigger area on the "hook" to get the anchor inside and it's effortless. The actual strap itself is RIGHT UP against where the anchor disk has to go to slot in and it's a tight fit. I uploaded some photos to make more sense of my dumb explanation. The bummer here is that the original Slide strap has a wider area for the anchor disks, but I wanted the smaller Slide Lite strap since I carry a mirrorless camera. My only complaint is still not enough to dissuade me from using the strap. As dumb as this sounds, using this strap has gotten me photos I wouldn't have ordinarily gotten because it is easy and comfortable to wear. My camera is more accessible while slung around me instead of in my backpack.

I can't say I'm surprised with the level of quality and the fine details... $40+ bucks for a camera strap is not something I'd normally consider. But after scouring the web and finding nothing but wildly positive reviews on both the strap, the company, their values, and all of their products, plus researching used options, I ended up finding that these straps are so durable, useful, comfortable, and designed so ingeniously... (PLUS the huge % of reviews claiming that these straps are manufactured so well that it was more than they'd ever need for anything less than full-on pro equipment) meant that there is only a tiny depreciation of value overall even for items with years of use. I decided to bite the bullet and buy new. I'm happy I did. Every good thing I've read is true. I love the quality, style, the button system, the features, the versatility, the security, and anything else I might have forgotten to mention. This is one of the few companies out there today that seems to aspire to do business the way older folks fondly recall as a relic of the past... where they make their products so well that you can buy from them knowing you wont be running back to the store in 2 years for a replacement when the shoddy materials or worksmanship inevitably fails. These are the kind of products that you can almost certainly count on withstanding decades of use, possibly a whole lifetime. Their stuff is sold at a premium, but the quality says it all. I'll gladly pay 2x as much for a product that is designed to last 20x longer (or more) than the majority of stuff on the market. When you look at it that way, this stuff is a bargain compared to something you'd have to buy every couple of years when it breaks or falls apart. Just my two cents.

This strap rocks. The system is easy-peasy. The adjuster buckles are like the best I’ve ever used on anything. And it’s beautiful and comfortable!

No tiene ni un roce, ni se le nota el desgaste, es impresionante, si lo llegara a perder, porque estropearse va a ser difícil...seguro volvería a comprar otra correa exactamente igual. La negra también es bonita, pero la gris me resulta muy elegante
