how would the lens adapter factor on the focal length ?

A mirrorless camera has a much shorter "flange focal length" (the distance between the rear lens element and the camera sensor) than a DSLR. Flange focal length on RF mount lens is 20mm, versus EF mount which is 44mm. So the adapter just puts the flange focal length back to what it would be on a DSLR. In short, the focal length of the lens (adapted EF or EF-S lens) does not change. A 50mm lens is still 50mm.

what is the continuous recording time limit with video? 29 mins?

Anything that records 30+ mins is subject to higher customs/import tax, so many cameras stay under that deliberately.

Can this camera operate while being charged via an external battery or power bank, and can it tether that battery pack to be used while charging?

I have never had to use it while charging. I have 1 Canon battery and 2 non Canon batteries so take at least one extra with me when I'm out. I did take 300+ photos the other day and didn't have to change batteries. I haven't used the camera for video yey.
