Our son is just over 1.5 years old, and he decided to fall out of his crib. So his crib got converted into a big boy bed and we had to convert his room into something you may find in a psych ward (remove and raise all things that he could hurt himself with). Well that didnt leave much to keep a night light and a sound machine plugged in. So this switch/USB combo provided the solution, because both items run off USB cords. Luckily I had put this light switch in for a light in the walk in closet in his room, so I knew there was a neutral present. Yes the neutral is required to power the USB portion of the combo switch. Quick install, if you know what you’re looking at. Installed today 2-10-22, and is working well. Will update with any premature failures.

It works great, we keep our wyze cameras on our tablet at all times by the front door. It's cool to immediately see who's around the house or at the door. This switch/usb power outlet works great. I did have to figure out the wiring but that was fine. I drew an outline of what i did(BLACK-bottom left is power from circuit breaker, top right is power to light). Also I decided to flip it and put the usb on top after for ease of use/plug in; [wiring stays the same just rotated switch once wired]. I ALWAYS MAKE SURE POWER IS OFF BEFORE DOING ELECTRICAL WORK. When going to wire the switch I found that I only had a 2 wire Romex cable in the wall (black: hot from the outlet, white: return hot for the outlet & copper: ground) which left me without a neutral. Ran a new 3 wire Romex cable through the wall between the outlet and switch (red: neutral) in order to have the neutral for the USB. Also made a little bridge for the hot from the gold screw on the USB to gold screw on the switch. Later on, marked the bridge and return hot white cable with black tape to signify that those are hot (after photos were taken). The switch is right by my desk and love having it to charge my phone/GoPro/headphones/etc. whenever it's needed.

They work perfectly if you don't know this is 3 way you have to to how install them

Develop a very high pitch electrical sound when not powering a usb device. Loud enough be be heard across the room. I got rid of it in less than a year.

Few quick bullet points... It is a 3 way switch. You don't have to use it as a 3 way switch (I don't) and it works fine as a single pole switch. It's bulky compared to a single pole on off switch , so if you don't have a-lot of room in the box to begin with this may not fit. The USB portion of the switch requires a neutral (white) wire. I've posted the installation instructions as one of my pictures.

We added this plug on a switch right above our kitchen counter. The two USB are very convenient for charging our items which we don't charge daily, like smart watches, etc. The installation was just like any other light switch. Super happy with this!

Biggest thing to note before buying this is that it is substantial. You will need a lot of room in your switchbox for this to fit, and you may need to spend time moving and repacking some wires. If you're putting this into a switchbox that is also a junction box for a lot of wires, allocate some time and patience. Also note, as the product description does clearly indicate, that you need a neutral line in the box as well as the 2 wires that go to your current switch. Simply put, this device is consuming power (USB) as well as controlling it (switch), so a neutral is required. If you have no idea what this means, find someone that does. I was surprised to see that (had i required it) this switch is also capable of replacing a 3-way if that's needed. Clear instructions on how to set it up as a 2-way vs 3-way are included. All in all, a very effective way of getting USB power to an area where you might need it, where there's a switch in place now. It is a clean and simple solution. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 simply because of the size.

Worked for a week then suddenly, USB ports stopped providing power. I took it out of the wall to see if a wire was loose and fell off... nope... All wired were still secure. Very frustrating. Going to buy another unit and try again in case this one is faulty.
