Well packed. Excellent finish.
Finally! A heavy steel item that was well-packed for shipping. I had anticipated getting a carton that looked like it had sank with the Titanic. Instead, this piece was well wrapped in a heavy gauge cardboard carton. I have not used the product as of yet. The gloss black finish is flawless and the welds look uber tight. If you are considering the purchase of this or similar hitch items, always check the weight capacity. There, my Safety Sally duty for the day. BTW, there is a dashed line showing where to cut the square tubing in order to make a 24" bar. I will be doing this.

Not going to fit in your standard 2” receiver hitch
First, let me start by this is a great product and serves it’s intended purpose. It shipped quickly, arrived safe. For me, I was under the impression that it would fit into my 2” receiver hitch, that’s on me. It. Does. Not. But because I have a welder and skills, I made it work. This unit will fit the larger 2.5” diameter receiver, but not many trucks are outfitted with them. Be aware of that before purchasing. I ended up going to the metal yard and outfitting the extension with a smaller internal square tube, welded it in after trimming back the original length and re-drilling holes to line up with my receiver standard class 3 (2”) receiver hitch.

Increases hitch reach
Works well, fits snug in hitch (which is good so i its not wobbly). Comes in longer lengths, and cam be cut down to shorter if lengthbis not need, this will increase weight capacity. It DOES NOT come with stability straps which ARE necessary, and the metal loops are there for them so if you need to use this right away, order them at the same time. Lastly mine was missing some of its coating, which was not mentionedbin the listing. I used some black nail polish to deter rusting...

45048 receiver adapter and class 5 2 1/2 hitch / Verses the 2" suppor hitch
I needed a long exstion for my short bed camper, and new camper. The camper is the largest short bed camper U can buy.I needed 40 inches of exstion to reach my boat trailer. I had two choses , 1 the 2" supper hitch that sold for $1200 too $1300 dallors. Or go to a class 5 2 1/2" hitch assy , with the 45048 receiver adapter. The cost of the 2 1/2" hitch and receiver adapter was $519.00 pluss safty chain and hard ware at $36.00. This system works great and was hafe the cost of a suppor hitch. I did go to a 13 inch stinger from a 10 inch. If you go this rout make sure to use the safty chain set up , it helps 75% on trailer bouncing up and down. Very happy Rob Eagle Point Or. Thank Curt Manufacturing. The change over to the class 5 hitch take about 1.25 hours.

Made solid, drilled hole(s) not centered when it was manufactured.
Heavy built, purchased to use with truck camper to also pull boat. Note,: you may have to redo the drilled hole on the truck side for hitch pin insertion. The holes were not drilled square thru the tube, hitch pin would not go in all the way, hitch had to have hole spacing corrected. Be ready to do that to make it work for your truck.

Extension for my F250 Hauling a 2005 Lance 845 Truck Camper
My original hitch extension broke on me so I had to order another one. I have a 2005 Lance Model 845 truck camper that sits well past my rear bumper. I ordered this one and had it on my front porch within two days. Love amazon Prime. The 34" length was a little to long for the extension and had to cut it down to 24" for it to barely go past my campers bumper. I used a circular saw with a metal cutting blade I bought at Home Depot for $3. After two minutes of cutting, I had the hitch extension but down to 24". I placed it in my 2 1/2 inch receiver on my Ford F250 and it works like a charm. I haul a 21 ft pontoon with the extension and sometimes a little utility trailer. Great product.
