Good piece of kit
I have been wanting roof box for a while now and seen this one on Amazon . It is a good size fits a large and two small suit cases . Much cheaper than hallfords and others.. it took less than an hour to fit together .. So if you need the boot space for other stuff this is a good buy .. Seller also contacted for a convenient delivery day , which in my case was Next day 10/10 Thay couldn't give a time but arrived about one in the afternoon I'm in the middle of Scotland and Thay we're delivering from the south so good enough for me :-) Update may2013 Used it to go on holiday all good very sturdy .... did the job

huge 415 litre universal lockable roof box
Very reasonably priced in comparrison to other boxes of simular size. although the construction of the box itself is very good. the instructions are not very well written and the part about the clasps are the wrong way round so if you were to fit them as described the pretruding threads of the screws would foul and not close completely. on the drop down hooks that go into the lockable part the pre drilled holes are fractionally to high so they do not allow locking of the box but with this said and a little engineering the box can be redrilled and work perfectly. Its massive capacity is well worth the little bit of tinkering that it took.

but good size. Although one side is lockable
A bit flimsy, but good size. Although one side is lockable, the hinge side can easily be undone and opened. You get what you pay for. Quite easy to assemble.

Poor instructions, would be decent, but mine has manufacturing defect and no answer to emails
I've had an interesting experience with this product: The instructions They're pretty dire - as other reviewers have mentioned trying to assemble it in the order it suggests would be very hard. You need to be able to look at the contens and work out how everything goes together yourself with the instructions providing some guidelines. It does require thinking ahead and if you'd struggle with something like an Ikea wardrobe, this is worth steering clear of. I'm very competent at DIY and can build a kitchen and I also have a AMsters degree in Engineering so I found this doable and it only took 1 hour 15 mins. One reviewer talks of 8 hours which unless you're very good with such things or if you try to follow the instructions I could well believe. If you're in any doubt about your abilities this is one best left! It's a shame as it would take a day to re-write some good instructions which hopefully the manufacturer may do in time The product It is a bit flimsy, but seems to be up to the job. I have had a major manufacturing defect with mine - the holes for one of the locks have been drilled in the wrong place. This has made it unusable sadly. I would also have concerns about the security of it. It has hinges that consist of a screw and bolt (both ends of which are perfectly accessible from outside, indeed you fit thei hinges with the box closed). It would be trivial and a minutes work to remove the hinges and open the box without a key. In addition, it's flimsy enough that you can easily force open the lock and the box flexes and opens. THe seller I advised the seller of the problem with the incorrectly drilled holes - I had a couple of prompt replies and after emailing photos of the defect and them going abck to the manufacturer I'm no longer getting a reply to my emails and have been left with a faulty box. I shall now chase up Amazon for a refund. Very disappointing. If it wasn't for the manufacturing defect and poor customer services, I would give this box 4 stars.

Great roof box
As other reviews have mentioned, it is a bit of a job to assemble this. The instructions to do so are not clear and it would have been easier to assemble it in a different order to that shown on them. However, taking into account how much cheaper this box is compared to the high street retailers it is well worth the effort. I also had to hacksaw the brackets down otherwise they protrude up into the box and are likely to puncture the contents of the roof box. This was easily done though. I managed to get a full size pushchair in it as well as 3 medium sized holdalls and 2 other small bags and 3 or 4 large coats. Great product. Looks great when assembled. Great capacity. Happily brought our luggage down the motorway at 80mph for 4 hours with no problems. Glad I bought it.

Great for the price!
Purchased July 2012 - Sold by Total Travel & Leisure We have now used this box for 2 summers and Its still working perfectly and still looks good! Overall Its a bit finicky getting it set up, I did have to drill new holes for my wider roof support bars, but that wasnt an issue for me. It holds a ton of stuff. Its HUGE! Its lockable and comes with lots of keys. Great for a family on a budget!

You get what you paid for.
Bought this recently with a bit of apprehension after reading other reviews and after a bit of confusion about delivery it finally arrived. I don't know why it took others 5 hours or so to put together as I managed it while watching an old episode of Friends and had a brew! Basically if your DIY savvy enough to be able to wire a plug or put up a shelf you'll have no problems with this. Yes it's not the sturdiest or the most secure roofbox on the market but for the price what do you expect! The 'hinge side' (3 nuts and bolts) is a security design oversite as you can gain access into the box by simply undoing the nuts however by backing these up with pop rivets (a pop rivet kit I bought from Aldi for around 5 pounds) it makes it far more secure. I also ran some rubber draught excluder (the type you use around doors and windows) around the top edge of where the 2 halves of the box meet to improve the weather protection. As for the issue with spare keys which has been previously mentioned, my box came with 3 keys, so clearly the supplier is listening to the feedback. So all in all I'm happy with my purchase, and if your looking for a cheap large roofbox then this should do for you too. One last thing on the size, don't try this a home kids, but I managed to comfortably climb into my box and close the lid. Which is impressive considering I'm 6'1'' and 14 stone!
