The open world has plenty to do and following the sidequests and data collecting activities (courtesy of Chadley who returns from the first game) takes you to all corners of each area. Though you can uncover a lot of these elements through your own exploration, there is a Ubisoft / Assassins Creed style towers that unlock areas of interest if you prefer (there are other advantages to playing it this way, but only for completionists, it isn't essential). The story itself takes you through an nhanced version of the events from thje original once you leave Midgar. It takes you through familiar territory (Kalm, Junon, etc) but with a broader cast of characters, plotlines, side quests and events. The action is consistent and well paced and the addition of the Synergy abilities gives combat more diversity thatn FFVII Remake. Altogether a very enjoyable experience, most of the additions, tweaks and adaptations to the story work well, although (similar to remake) it doesn't always stick the landing, especially in the later portions of the game. That said, its still a masterpiece of gaming and storytelling. Played on PS5.
