I wasn't expecting a lot out of these shoes. I bought them for a costume, and was worried my feet would hurt waking around with them on for three days. The sole is basically non-existent, and the bottom of the shoe is almost completely flat.However, after buying a full-size sole insert made of a stiff material (Plantar Fasciitis Insoles by ViveSole) and put in some thin odor eaters for cushion, they became literally the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. I want these babies in every color! It is a shame they aren't weather friendly, given they are made of thin cotton, but still amazing for the price!

I've always been a little nervous about buying shoes with out trying them on, but I'm so glad I did. These shoes are wonderful! I love the Mary Jane / China doll style. They are really cute and go with so many different outfits. Plus, they are incredibly comfortable. They don't give me blisters like most flats do! The canvas isn't super stiff like with canvas tennis shoes so it conforms perfectly to my foot. The canvas is fairly light weight, but feels nice and strong. I like that it allows my feet to "breathe" unlike leather flats. The rubber sole feels durable and is textured so I don't slip and slide on smooth floors. I noticed that the straps do not have a buckle like you would find on traditional belt (with the piece that goes through a hole) They do not have holes and just go through buckle. The buckle is tight enough that they stay in place just fine. This type of shoe is completely flat. There is slight padding in the foot bed, but be advised, there is no arch support. None the less, they are incredibly comfortable and because they are lightweight and compact, they are wonderful for travel.

This is my third time ordering this shoe. First order was the grey which were perfect and as described and pictured with actual buckle, reddish sole and squared toe box and all. The sole was stitched to the shoe not glued, and was an actual China shoe marked Hao Yu and all. Second time I ordered the black. They were NOT the same. Totally different than described and pictured. First off, the black canvas is more stiff than the grey, which I expect because for some reason black anything seems to be stiffer. Second, the toe box is round not squared. Third, there is no actual buckle! Just slide the strap through the buckle loop. No holes or anything to secure it, but the strap is larger than the buckle so hopefully it stays. Forth, the sole of the shoe is glued not stitched and just says made in China. Lastly, the black runs at least a size and a half BIG so order down! I ordered them in a 6 which I normally wear. Waaaay too big. Smallest size they have is a 5. So I reordered the 5 hoping this time that the I would receive the actual shoe as described and size. Nope. Shoe is still about a half size big and again, not the same as described. Although they are wearable, I do not expect them to last at all and very disappointed that they are not the genuine ones as described or pictured like I wore when I was little. Impossible to find. Ordered from all the different vendors on amazon and have had the same results. I will be keeping these as they do semi fit and honestly I’m tired of returning things to amazon, but I have very low expectations. I will update once I wear them for a bit and see if they last or fall apart. I really hope amazon takes note on this review and makes the seller provide the actual shoe that is shown and described.

I feel like I got what I ordered; nothing unexpected. I'm a 7 1/2-8 and I ordered an 8. They are snug, but compared to the other ones I ordered, I like the snug fit better. Everyone said they would have a pungent smell, but I didn't smell anything out of the ordinary. I recommend these, love them. P.s. you might need a lint roller if you have cats (see picture).

Wonderful shoes and they fit perfectly! I like the fact that the buckle has holes so they fasten properly and don't slip.The only drawback is that they smell really bad, as in a STRONG chemical smell. Does anyone know how to get rid of that (aside from actual washing)? I tried Febreeze and wiping them down with a washcloth. They are airing outside right now!Update: even though I’ve washed them and worn several times, that chemical smell won’t go away (to the point where I don’t want to wear these shoes) Never had a problem like this with this style of shoe before

I've bought many pairs of these shoes over time. I love them. They're comfortable and go with lots of stuff. These shoes always smell very strong like chemicals but it wears off. Whatever you do have these shipped by themselves. Everything in the box with it will smell. I get a dress at the same time and I cannot get the smell out of the dress. Lesson learned.

I love these shoes. They were a fashion statement for a short time during my hs days back in 1979, although I never owned any. I can't believe how small they run. I usually wear a 5.5 but ordered up for some odd reason. Well, my toe hits the front of the shoe. No kidding. I might wear them with no socks in the summer, or maybe I'll just donate them to charity.

The shoe has a sturdy rubber sole for support and traction. The canvas top is of good quality and should last for awhile. I especially like the Mary Jane style. I have a narrow foot and have a hard time getting shoes that fit. I hesitated to buy these without being able to try them on, but the price was really low so I decided to risk it. Because of the style that allows for adjustment, they fit. I probably will wear them with sox to aid the fit. I'm not crazy about the buckle. It simply pulls to close. There are no holes for the little metal whatsit to secure it, but it seems to work. I did not buy the shoes to walk around in, so I don't know how they would hold up. They are specifically for my hour Tai Chi. Would recommend them for that purpose.
