We've always used the black charcoal filters and while we had no issues for years, lately, perhaps because we're now a family of 4, they kept failing. I had grown beyond tired of constantly scrubbing the filters & repriming only to have them only filter down about 25% of the way, so I was very hopeful when I stumbled upon these compatible filters. The first 2 passes were extremely slow, as expected, but after that, they filter at lightning speed compared to my old Berkey filters. I can't confirm the filtering quality specifically since I haven't had it tested, but the water tastes great and I trust the certifications behind it.
