Amazing Fast Results
This was my first time home dying anything and I’ve been totally blown away by the results. Photo speaks for itself. I needed a green bra, couldn’t find one, this was a brand new item in nude which you can see is now a beautiful forest green to match my dress, I’m over the moon with the results.

No Staying power
Ok, disappointed. I used this to change the colour and refresh some cotton teatowels to match other items in my kitchen - the colour was great initially, but it washes out and also contaminates other clothing as it does so. So really disappointed with the overall result

Defies expectation!
So I love my sofa but it was a freebie and the colour, though lovely, isn’t me. I’d been thinking of re-covering it but it’s a great fabric and I thought if only I could just dye it… I’m no stranger to dyeing natural fibres but I’ve always seen synthetics as beyond my reach so I looked into those fabric paints you can buy that people often use to change the colour of chairs and sofas, but the finish always looks patchy and it takes forever and multiple coats, etc, I didn’t fancy that. So I decided to try experimenting with synthetic dyes. The manufacturer stresses that for it to work your dye bath needs to be at near boiling temperatures for a prolonged period for the dye to bond with polyester, I think you’re essentially melting the dye into the plastic fibres. It’s strongly advised that use a stovetop method, however these are big pieces of fabric and I don’t have pots that big enough. There’s a 90* wash on my machine though so I figured it was worth a bash for £7. It was an agonising two and a half hours excitedly waiting to see if the dye would take but I am thrilled to report that it did. It was as easy as putting a wash cycle on, the dye is in powder form and comes in a soluble packet so I chucked that in the drum, emptied the contents of the colour activator in with it and a tiny squirt of washing up liquid just to help get the dye into the pile of the velvet. It did dye some of the plastic elements in the drum and I wouldn’t advise putting the dye in your detergent drawer as this might also change colour. But if I understand correctly that dye shouldn’t leach out, it’s now permanently bonded with the plastic so no drama there. I can’t say how durable it is in practice but based on that premise it should last just as well as whatever the original colour was. This is not for the faint hearted but if you’re open to the possibility it might not work out go for it! I’m ordering more now and will have to tackle removing the fixed upholstery from my sofa so that I can repeat the process for the whole thing. Think it all through before you set out, be prepared for what could go wrong and might just end up with something beautiful!

Amazing dye but...
I primarily got this dye to add a flare of colour to a failing artificial wig. As the wig was heat-resistant I thought I would give it a go as I had seen a few people on YouTube doing similar projects. I followed the instructions to the letter and everything went amazing and the colour was so vibrant, everything I wanted. I then rinsed the hair in water until it ran clear and just to be sure the dye was completely removed, I stuffed it in a pillowcase and ran it through the washing machine (yes it works). So at this point it had been washed and cleaned vigorously enough to remove any trace of the dye, or so I thought...The colour still kept coming of the wig, especially onto my hands or sheets but that was not the worst part. There is an awful and pungent chemical smell that just seems to cling and cling to dyed object, even after several washes it still to this day smells of the chemicals. So is the dye good yes and no. It does the job in vibrant colour but be careful of transference and odour but then again I think this is common with synthetic chemical dyes.

Pleased with the result
I bought this dye for a very dull beige cotton sweatshirt. I wasn’t sure what material the stitching was hence the iDye. The instructions say to use boiling water and keep it simmering throughout the process. I didn’t have a big enough metal container to use on a hob so just used a plastic washing up bowl and boiling water to dissolve the powder. I topped it up with hot water from the tap. I made sure all the material was submerged and kept moving it around. I left it for one hour. Gave it a good rinse and then a low temperature machine wash. My dull beige sweatshirt is now a lovely shade of buttermilk. Just right.

good product
I've used this brand quite a few times and always with good results, even colour and close to the picture on the packet. However, I use them in the washing machine as I find hand dyeing unsatisfactory as the item always turns out streaky and uneven. As was dyeing large curtains, doing it on the hob wasn't an option anyway. I mixed up two packets with the solution sent and put it in the soap drawer, put in the damp article and make sure the programme is set to one which reaches 90d. Turned out fine.

Not really red. Reordered red jid1449
It’s not really red, maybe more burgundy. Shame the picture of the product on Amazon is missing the colour example down the side of the packet which is more representative of the colour .

and worked great. This dye is very green though and it ...
Arrived on time, and worked great. This dye is very green though and it wasn't a really flattering colour for a shirt. I had used two older white shirts of my husbands and used this to dye green for a wedding. I doubt he will wear the shirts again, but to no fault of the product. If you are dyeing clothes, just realize that this colour is verrrrrry green.
