This set lives up to that expectation. These are very contemporary. Instead of having a slightly angled wide rim, these are completely flat with a lip that stands straight up. The glaze is a very pretty shade of blue. I like these for their uniqueness but also find them to look strange compared to what I'm used to. That won't stop me from using them but I think I like the rims on my older sets of dishes. These plates are really nice and have a great weight to them. The color is really nice, too. There are chips before glazing, glaze runs, significant glaze inconsistencies, and burrs. I read this on other sites before I ordered and they were correct.I ordered an extra box, kept this best and returned the others. For the price, I’m happy.They are heavy and they don’t fit in a dishwasher like other plates bc of their flatness. Fine bc we don’t have that many dishes. The bottoms are rough not smooth like a pre dipped glaze so use placemats on your table.You can hear them grind when you stack them.Also it says to contact the manufacturer but they would not let me exchange the worst ones. No extra pieces like most of their stock .
