Very good quality, easy to use and very long hose. Spray attachments leaks a bit but could be the high pressure. Very pleased with this purchase.

This was the second one I purchased. I bought this for a second water hose in our backyard a year ago. From the beginning it seemed a little different from the first one, took a little more work to get it to lock into place, but functioned fine otherwise. Three weeks ago it completely stopped retracting the hose. It doesn’t work at all now. I’ve called and left two messages with the company and have not heard back. We really like the item but if it doesn’t last any longer than this- and support isn’t available- I would not recommend it. Follow Up: after doing a little more research this company has an email account that has an AI response. If you can’t work through the issue with AI, it creates a customer ticket. They responded within hours. Don’t call them- send an email if you have issues. I’ve changed my review to a 5 star because we love the system and now the customer service has matched the quality of the giraffe.

I’ve had this Giraffe Tools Retractable Garden Hose Reel mounted on my porch for just under a year now and I’m overall very happy with it. Mounting was super easy I attached it to a wooden porch support post and the included hardware worked perfectly. Took maybe 15 minutes total with a drill and level — no issues at all. The swivel feature is excellent. The whole reel turns smoothly so the hose doesn’t get twisted or kinked no matter which direction I’m watering. That’s a big convenience I didn’t realize I needed until I had it. The retraction mechanism works really well too. The hose pulls out smoothly and retracts neatly without any tangling or fighting me. It’s satisfying to use. The 100ft hose length is more than enough for my yard and garden beds. I can easily reach every corner of my property without dragging around a heavy hose. The only real downside is the spray gun that comes with it. It feels cheaper than the rest of the reel and unfortunately cracked after one season of regular use. I just replaced it with a better one and the reel itself continues to work great. Overall this is a nicely built hose reel — sturdy, well-designed, and reliable. I’d still recommend it, especially if you plan to upgrade the nozzle anyway. Definitely a 4-star product for me.

So far it’s been great, no more dealing with a tangled hose in my garage. The only thing that would make it better is if you could attach the supply hose to either side of the reel. In my setup it would be better for the supply hose to be on the opposite side. Not really a big deal, still thrilled with the hose! So far it seems really durable the length of the hose should be more than enough to reach where I need it. The compact size and mounting definitely makes the garage look a bit more organized.

We have a big yard so I bought two of these and still have one after two years of ownership and average use. This year, one failed internally and was spraying water inside the housing. Not wanted to deal with a warranty headache, I decided to take it apart and see if it was fixable. Yeah, not so much. Like most reels, the hose attaches to a swivel fitting and this is where it failed. Instead of using a metal threaded coupling, it is plastic and IIRC, the hose was crimped to it. The plastic coupling had broke where it went into the swivel and there was no way to fix it. It looked like a proprietary part so didn't even waste time searching for something that might work. This coupling also takes a sharp acute angle that resembles a "V", this along with the narrow 1/2" hose over 130ft, your pressure will drop tremendously. When I first got this, I never really noticed it, but after this reel's failure and hooking up my standard 5/8"x50ft garden hose, I can water plants with ease; something that I couldn't do with this reel. Now as far as the extend and retracting action, flawless. I never had an issue extending or retracting the hose. That all worked as advertised. I think Gorilla would do their customers a favor if they made these reels with replaceable hoses or even offer reels with no hoses so customers could add their own. Oh, almost forgot, these are perfect for birds houses. We unfortunately had a nest built in our surviving reel this spring. Sadly, the eggs did not survive as we didn't know about the nest and extended the hose which caused the nest and eggs to get destroyed. There is also no way to clean it out without taking it apart and risking the spring unwinding. That is the key to these reel's mechanics. A little access panel on the bottom that could be removed to allow leaves and debris that accumulates would be a nice addition as well.

I am changing my rating to 5 stars for this company’s outstanding customer support! They are honoring their 2-year warranty and replacing the assembly! ————- We initially liked the retractable hose. It is long and retracts easily. However, in less than a year, the hose is failing. It is not durable. It blisters and bulges and prevents water from flowing. I have left a voice message because no one answers the phone number listed on their website, but doubt my call will be returned. The photos show the bulges, but when under pressure, they are much larger — about an inch and a half wide.

This is our second reel like this. Our first is 90' 5/8", it's 3 years old, still works great. It retracts really well, and it's pretty easy to pull out what you need. The swivel is great to get a straight pull whether you are your right or left of the reel. The color blend in nicely with the landscaping and you didn't really notice it. I mounted my first one to 2 4x4 post scraps that I last screwed together, painted black, and sink into concrete so the post is totally rigid. For this one, I'm mounting on a 6x6 post that supports a patio roof. A single 4x4 is too narrow to attach the bracket to. I knocked off one star because the infeed fitting sprays horribly when you attach the included leader hose onto it directly. It's so bad it will ride soil within a couple minutes. Our old and new reels both have this issue. To overcome that, I bought a 90 degree brass elbow and used Teflon tape. I put the elbow on the reel, oriented the elbow to face down, and attached the leader hose. That solves the leak and it also prevents the leader hose from kinking when the hose weight pulls down 90 degrees from the infeed fitting. They should just include the elbow so you don't have to wait a few days after getting this to use it. Except for this nuisance adaptation, the tell is high quality and works well.

Had this unit for about a year. Great quality. Nice to have it auto retract. Nice and durable. Mounted straight to concrete and is locked tight. Included nozzle is of great quality even though it is plastic.

Quality.

150’ hose, works well. I do let it back in slowly and wipe the dust off the hose as it rewinds. I think this helps the plastic mechanism last longer.

My husband and I both love them. So we bought a second one for our second outdoor faucet.
