CHEAPER can be BETTER ! Updated to 2nd purchase...
HURRY UP AND BUY ! For the price it's a great deal. I researched for HOURS X MANY late nights to find the best possible deal. I found one that was about 10.00 more because I liked the reviews and then I found this one that was much cheaper. I figured it would b a cheap back up and I was curious considering the price difference if it would hold up to the more pricier one.The difference: The more expensive one was bit bigger and cage seemed a bit sturdier. The trigger mechanism was almost too touchy and would deploy b4 I could finish bating it. Because u have to put the bait at the far end of cage away from the door (where the trigger plate is) u practically have to hold ur breathe while slowly, steadily reaching in the cage to bait it and then back out without touching any part of the cage. Gets REALLY frustrating after the 3rd try. Then as ur pulling ur arm out of the cage, Slow n steady u have to use ur other hand to hold the 2 trigger arms on the outside and other side of cage together until you're arm is completely out of cage. Like a game of operation. Those arms are really sensitive too. I had to file those 2 arms down to adjust the sensitivity. It WILL deploy with a TINY tap and the landscaper even set it off with a leaf blower from about a 20ft away.**Now back to THIS item. The cage is a bit more light weight gauge BUT with any cage/trap u HAVE to check it every day otherwise any rodent will chew right thru them (escape or defeat) and that's where most ppl screw up and them blame it on the manufacturing. This has a better trap mechanism which is much easier to set and once deployed it seemed to reinforce the door keeping the door closed and locked down. I didn't need the patience to set this trap compared to the more expensive one. I would definitely recommend that u buy this one as its about 1/2 the price or 2fer 1 deal, right? The set up is better, easier and cheaper. It definitely does the job and that's all u really need. Save some money and hit the buy now button. I already did the research for you. Ther longer you wait... well u know. The more you have to set traps over and over again.Updated 1.10.19-This trap is totally worth it. Like I said earlier... U MUST check them periodically. I set in the evening and check in the morning. So far every time I have the put it out I have a cute but "property destroyer" sitting in the cage bright and early n the am its like clockwork. This is the BEST one by far, out of 4 different traps that I purchased. I really like that they are "LIVE CATCH" so that I do not need to worry about harming the cute critter (squirrels) but that I can release it FAR FAR AWAY.The ONLY ISSUE is that they use a thin gauge wire for the caging, making it easier to chew thru. I can't say it enough...check the cage frequently.Besides that small guage a critter FINALLY was able to chew a hole through it. HOWEVER... i am buying another today hence my updated review. Changing review to 5* .My average with this cage n the last 6 months 10/10 and counting. All catch & release. Very pleased considering 1 acre and full of wildlife. Can't bare the thought of putting them out but sending them on a vacation far far away, I can do that easily... now just need a better means of transporting them.

Awesome little trap.
First day and I got 2 squirrels so far and relocated them across town. So far it's a great trap. Easy to set up and easy to release or empty. So my tally is 5 squirrels relocated. The last one won't go near it and must have seen the others. They are smart little rodents but, I'll take the 5 I got and keep working on the last one. This trap is a great value.

This version is best with holding clip, much easier to load, also screened door, secure handle.
I've purchased a few of these over the years. Many have slight differences. Some have wire doors, others cut aluminum panel or solid panels. Many don't have the holding clip, which makes loading and cleaning them much easier! I prefer the type with screened doors and backs, not solid, they seem to be more effective. I always spray paint them black or dark green to blend in with nature better, critters don't care, the scent does not deter them and goes away after a day or two anyways, also human scent doesn't matter.I load them with shelled peanuts, work every time. Securing them with a twist tie is best to trigger the plate or you're just offering a free meal. Peanuts are great because they are weather proof and don't attract ants and slugs when outside. Place in area you know pests visit ... Best to secure side of cage between heavy objects or with skewers into ground or the cage can tip over which makes releasing the door possible for quick escape, do not block top or door or trap will not work. You will catch all sizes of rodents from tiny mice or vowels to large squirrels and rats and even several small birds, larger Scrubjays and Steller's jays have gone in as well for the peanuts. Best to be around so you can release mistaken captures as soon as possible without causing any harm or trauma, birds only visit once, then they learn, squirrels aren't so smart and may enter multiple times but will also eventually learn. The cages aren't super sturdy and thrashing around inside them will eventually destroy the screen or damage the trigger mechanism beyond repair.Cage is easy it handle bare handed. I've never been bit or scratched picking it up and the handle is sturdy enough to carry around with a critter inside. It's also easy to open the door hatch for release without getting touched. If relocating, set in tray or bucket to catch mess, cover the cage with a loose towel, the darkness always calms whatever is inside down.
