Don't do it! Flex-a-Lite fans don't pull as much air as the stock fan & clutch at idle when locked.
I purchased these 4+ years ago, back during a time I was doing a lot of various modifications to my truck. For the first 1 year, my commute was only 5 miles so my truck rarely was ever able to reach operating temps, much less overheat, so I never realized I had an issue. It wasn't until I moved back from southern FL to central TX towing a 16,600lb trailer that I realized my truck wasn't able to keep cool. We moved in late July and my water temps never fell under 230° for 1800 miles! I've been doing chasing other ideas to fix the overheating since moving back to Texas, not realizing these were the problem. I didn't put 2 & 2 together till this summer. I decided to reinstall the OEM fan, clutch, and shrouds. It's been a week since I went back to stock and it's been 103°-105° every day. I can sit at idle with my AC on in traffic again and my temps do not go over 205° (which is normal). I have not towed anything yet but I can tell that everything will be much better now! With the Flex-a Lite's installed, in daily driving conditions here in Austin during cooler months, Nov-Apr, I rarely experience any issues as long as I'm not towing anything. However, if you tow anything regularly or plan on driving in temps 90°+ you will see water temps exceeding 230°+.What let me to realize the Flex-a-Lite fans were not adequate was issues with my AC system. These are not able to pull enough air through my condenser when stopped in traffic if the air temps exceed 95°. Once I'm able to drive over 20MPH my AC will start to coo again. My AC regularly over-pressurized and blew off Freon from the relief valve. I placed a dry rag vertically against the condenser and the Flex-a-Lite's are not able to hold it there. After I replaced everything with OEM, I did this again and the rag was easily pulled against the condenser. Flex-a-Lite fans don't pull as much air as the stock fan & clutch at idle when locked. Also, shortly after installing these, I also had an issue with the 50A circuit breaker tripping when the air temps were >90°, when I needed these most! These are thermally tripped so the ambient air effects the trip point. Not sure if Flex-a-Lite realizes these are installed in engine compartments in the summer too. Since 60A circuit breakers are not easily sourced, I made one by wiring (2) 30A breakers in parallel. This fixed that problem and has worked flawlessly for over 3 years. To summarize, if you still think the HP gains are worth the higher temps, go for it. I recommend you hang onto all your factory parts though. I did not and had to spend an additional $450+ to purchase all these new again. The clutch I purchased was a cheaper brand and I expect this to go out in a couple years. The premium version would have pushed the total OEM install upwards of $650-$700.

helped with cooling issues
I received the fan and installed it. The overheating problems i've had are still present although not as serious. It is also getting cooler outside now and that may be helping. I also installed a cold air intake. The fans work great. I can adjust the setting as to when the fans kick on based off engine operating temperature. They are at present set to kick on as soon as possible. The true test will be at the height of next summers temperatures. I don't believe the fans would be my save-all to my overheating issues, but I know they have helped keep the motor run cooler.

I am both pleased and unpleased with this product
I am both pleased and unpleased with this product. The product it self is very nice and well made, was very easy to install. Works well driving around town and on the freeway. It doesn't do so well pulling a loaded 31 foot 5th wheel toy hauler weighing 14,000lbs. The engine still tends to heat up. Not happy with the performance of this product, the fans I think need to run FASTER!!!!!

Fans do great, frees up more horse power
Fans do great, frees up more horse power, but be sure the fans turn freely before install, one of the protective cages on mine had gotten bent and almost burnt up one of the motors before I found it, made some adjustments and working fine

More wire!
Everything looks great, instructions are clear, and I wish they included the wires to complete the install. For $433 you thinks a couple feet of wires would be tossed in so that you can complete the Install.

Love it
Installed on my 06 2500 Cummins Have towed 12K with it no issues and the truck warms up a lot quicker in the winter months a little tricky to get all the wiring clean but so far no issues will update if anything changes

fixed my overheating issue
i had this fan installed by a local mechanic, with this product in my 03 dodge ram with the 5.9 cummins i have noticed that it reaches operating temperature sooner than it does with the stock fan clutch i also gained about 1 to 2 mpg with it. i can not be real accurate on that because i have been having to run 4 wheel drive due to snowy roads.

Im a huge fan!
A must have for your cummins, It runs cooler than factory and you free up all the lost power that is turning your heavy ass fan and fan clutch. I have towed a 30ft camper, boat, and 16ft trailer with 100+ square bails with no issues of running hot. Worth the money if your going for performance and MPG gains.
