Does this come with cutting board oil or wax, or is it just the applicator?

Just the applicator. You get one round maple applicator; oil and wax are sold separately. The round sponge head dips straight into round wax jars and works with most cutting board oils and waxes.

Will the sponge pad stay attached and not crumble onto my board?

Our sponge sits recessed in the maple handle so it will not catch on a board edge and tear. Spread with light pressure rather than scrubbing, and store it sealed. If a pad ever separates, message us through Amazon.

Will this fit in my round wax jar and work with mineral oil too?

Yes. Our applicator is round because wax jars are round, so the sponge dips straight in. It spreads mineral oil just as smoothly and works with most other cutting board waxes and oils.

Does this spread oil more evenly than a rag or paper towel?

Yes. The stiffer sponge lays down a smooth, consistent coat and is less messy than a rag or your hands. Afterwards seal the applicator in a re-sealable bag, and the leftover oil goes straight into your next application.

Can I use this on butcher block counters and wooden utensils, not just cutting boards?

Yes. Our applicator is made for butcher blocks and cutting boards, and the round sponge works just as well on wooden utensils and bowls. Its contoured maple handle reaches edges and sides without splatter or hand fatigue.
