From the manufacturer The Pond Oxygenator Pumps have been designed to be weather-proof, so they are able to be installed in most locations around the garden, or in a shed or garage, close to your chosen power supply. Ensure that the air pump is installed above the pond water level to avoid back siphoning of pond water into the air pump in the event of a mains power failure. Alternatively, if the air pump can only be installed below the pond level, instal Aqua Air Check Valves into each piece of airline. The air pump should be located on a firm surface which will not vibrate and act as a sounding board; a concrete floor or paving slab would be ideal. Position the air pump in a clean and dust free environment. Excessive dirt will block the air filters, reducing the air pump’s performance and increase the speed of wear on replaceable parts. this is a very effective Air Pump. I nearly lost all my fish due to lack of oxygen one night last week. This kit saved the day. I'm marking it down a star as I cannot get one of the vents to fully work, I don't know if the stone is faulty but compared to the strong fizzing of the other air stones, it's very weak! You may need to fit a plug as the kit might not come with one. Apart from this, it was very easy to set up and there is a generous amount of air hose to reach the depth of the pond. The noise level is fine, as it's outside you don't really notice it. I'm very pleased to have got it at a reduced price due to the packaging being damaged. This didn't affect the condition of the contents. This pump has given me peace of mind now knowing that my fishes health is safe and they won't be stressed out gasping at the surface for oxygen.
