Awesome Cabinet!
I have been searching for a decent media cabinet for quite a while now. I do not typically buy furniture online as you can not see the quality first hand before purchasing. After looking at every local store I could think of and only finding the cheap bookshelf type racks I turned to amazon to check out my options. I love the fact that this media cabinet is just that, a cabinet! I hate having all our dvds exposed on a shelf as its simply a eyesore to our living room. With this cabinet however everything is nicely hidden behind the doors and the unit itself compliments our furniture dรฉcor. The smaller size is perfect for our room however we do almost have it filled and may need to purchase a second one in the future. They do make a larger version of this unit however I think it would simply be too large for our living room. I read most of the reviews on this product and almost decided against it based on some of the more negative reviews. However this seemed like the best one out of all my other options so I decided to take a chance on it and glad I did so! We are very happy about the purchase! I do have a couple of points to make about the quality and build process.... The locking feature is great especially as we have a little one on the way and this will keep them out of our dvd collection, however the lock is not the strongest thing out there but it does its job, I may make a couple small reinforcements to the locking mechanism to hold up to kids a little better in the future but for now it will keep the baby out. I may even has some small magnets to latch the doors closed instead of using the locks as some users here suggested but we will see. The left side lock works great and latches in tight however you must know its there to avoid breaking it by forcefully opening the door. Remember this is particle board and the left latch is plastic that is mounted to particle board so yes it can break if pulled on hard enough! I do not think this is a fault of product design. If your guests are going to open this with enough force to break the latches and locks off then maybe they need to keep their hands off your furniture! This is a particle(press board) board cabinet and not solid wood and some seem to think then disappointed with the quality. If it was solid wood this would be hundreds of dollars more. Im all about well built furniture but something like this is simply there to hold DVDs and nothing else so this does the job just fine and very affordable. For it being particle board is a very well built piece, Its sturdy once built and looks good. I have seen some pretty crappy particle board furniture(think walmart stuff) and this is much much better! It will not last a lifetime or being something you hand down for your kids but for what it is its great! Its just gotta hold DVDs, by the time my kids will inherit it dvds will be a thing of the past anyway! Speaking of assembly I did not find this very hard to build. It can be tedious with all the sections and small pieces involved but take your time and double check your parts orientation and it will go fine. I have read several reviews about "poor instructions" or "not strong enough to even be put together" or "the instructions are incorrect causing me to damage it" etc. I did not find any of these to be true. A lot of these type of furniture simply just screws or get nailed together. This actually has most of the holes pre drilled, uses cam locks and pins to hold it together and once tight its very solid, this also makes it easy to disassemble and reassemble if every needed. A tip for the build process.....Lay everything out of the floor and verify you have all the parts before starting your build. Follow the illustrations and take note of the orientation of the parts pictured on each step as there are some top and bottom, left and right panels that need to go a particular way. Take your time and double check your work and it will go smoothly. When done if there is a door not shutting correctly or hitting the top or bottom loosen and readjust the hinges. I had to make some minor adjustments to make the doors open and close nicely. In regards to it being damaged when it shows up. this was my biggest fear as there seemed to be several situations of this happening. Typically anything heavy that gets delivered at our place is ok as our UPS guys is decent with not throwing stuff around. This can obviously vary quite a bit and if you routinely get damaged packages you may not want to order this. Again this is not a fault of the product itself rather the shipping carrier and packaging used in most cases. I do feel the product could be packaged a little better for its weight to prevent shipping damage. When ours showed up I was a little worried as the box has some abuse on it. I checked everything out and only has a small ding in one of the shelves but nothing too bad. I always suggest to inspect your packages before taking delivery if possible. If there is noticeable damage refuse delivery or file a claim with amazon right away. Again not the products fault rather then the shipping method. All in all this is a great product and very happy with the overall quality and looks. If we need another one to fill up we will definitely be buying one!

Great media cabinet and fantastic customer service
Pros: - Holds a ton - Great customer service - Looks much better than open-storage options Cons: - Doors need to be latched/locked to stay closed I needed to find a better way to store my blu-ray and DVDs and settled on this cabinet. The build wasn't terrible - the instructions are clear and easy to follow. It's a bit of a longer process since you also have to build the door shelves, but there's nothing terribly complicated. Total time was probably about two hours. As mentioned, the cabinet holds a lot. I had previously had two 36"x24" bookcases that were completely full. After moving everything over to the new cabinet, I have maybe half a shelf of dvds left over. Being able to keep nearly the entirety of collection in a single spot is great and frees up those shelves for other uses. Plus, it just looks nicer than the open-faced bookshelves. The customer service is also top notch. The cabinet arrived undamaged, but after assembling, I forgot to latch the right door before trying to move it. Unfortunately, the door to swung open which resulted in me dropping the unit, damaging it pretty severely. I emailed the company to see if I could buy replacement parts since it was 100% my own fault. They replied the next business day saying they were sending out the parts, which arrived in about a week. This was completely unexpected and incredibly appreciated. There are a few downsides, which others have mentioned. Probably my biggest complaint is the latch for the right door. It's just a plastic piece that goes up into the top of the unit. Since the door has to be closed to latch it, it can be a pain getting it lined up correctly, especially when the unit is full. The left door has a locking mechanism, which again needs to be in place in order for the door to stay closed. Annoying, but definitely not a deal breaker. Overall, I'm considering buying a second and will definitely be checking out Prepac's offerings when it comes to other furniture in the future.

Built it myself, and it's perfect!
This is the first piece of furniture I've ever purchased and built myself and I was more than pleased when I finished putting it together. I wanted to get a second one immediately (or like the one just like it that holsd literally twice as much as this one does) but I didn't have enough movies to store in one that size. And I know that people that have reviewed this product keep complaining about screws missing or the instructions being nearly impossible to follow, I can assure you that it comes with a perfect amount of screws, etc. and (in my opinion) there's mainly just one part of the instructions that can be a bit confusing at first. They had the instructions so it would read like "step 6- Part A" then "step 6- Part B" (as an example). But as long as you know what you're doing (know how to put things together well enough) you shouldn't have a problem with this! It's well worth he money and I count be happier! Also- the thing about the lock. The main lock that's for the key, that hole is predrilled. And so far I haven't had any problems with either doors swinging open- and both doors are fully stocked with movies. However, the inner lock is purely plastic and the holes for that are not pre-drilled. I put it on mine only because I felt like having it. There's literally no reason at all for me to have mine on, but still. All in all, this cabinet was definitely worth buying.

-It looks nice. -It saves space compared to a bookshelf
I purchased this to store my 4k blu-ray's 1080p blu-rays, and DVDs. I bought this expecting to need one upstairs and one downstairs, but only purchased one at first. Pros: -It looks nice. -It saves space compared to a bookshelf. -The manufacturer's customer support responded within 16 hours and shipped a replacement piece for the damaged bottom piece that I pictured. I emailed late in the evening and they responded in the early afternoon the next day. I received the replacement part in 9 calendar days. This is a long time, but it shipped from BC, Canada to FL, USA. Cons: -It doesn't store as many movies as it could. There are holes in each door so that you can adjust the shelves to the level that you want. However, there are some levels on the doors that you cannot place the shelves due to the cams used to hold the pieces together. Unfortunately, those locations would be ideal for blu-ray movies. I therefore cannot any movies on the bottom shelves of the door. If I was capable of moving one adjustable shelve up one notch, then the bottom shelves could be used. This means that there are two shelves that are unusable unless I lay movies on their side. -Each door has a locking mechanism that gets in the way of storage. The left door has a lever on the inside (when closed) that you must push up to lock and pull down to unlock. I had to leave a section on the shelf empty so that the door could close and to be able to reach this locking mechanism. The pre-drilled hole doesn't line up well so it is more difficult to use this than it should be, so I am not going to use it. The right door has a lock that requires a key. The lock protrudes through the back of the cabinet where movies are stored, so I cannot store as many movies on that shelf. -It took a while to build. This normally wouldn't be a big deal to me, but became one when I realized the previous issues. -All pieces were covered in debris. I caused quite a mess putting this together because of it. It would be nice if they used compressed air to clear the pieces of debris. -The replacement piece I purchased only one to see how I would like it, then purchase a second if I did. Due to the cons, I am debating whether or not I should purchase a second one. The design flaw for the shelves is disappointing, and the locking mechanisms were not well thought out. I think I would prefer a latch on the outside if it blended with the design. It is not like the lock will prevent anyone from getting in anyway. Even a child could probably break into this if they really wanted to. I may look around elsewhere to see if I can find something better. If the flaws with the shelves and locks were not an issue, then I would have given this 5 stars.

If you only want this for dvds, do not purchase!
Not too difficult to put together, but not the easiest instructions. Nothing was numbered or labeled top, bottom, right, left. I didn't rate the sturdienest because I haven't had it that long. It's made super cheap, but I was expecting that. My problem is, it only holds three shelves of dvds!! I even went back and reread the title and description and it doesn't actually state that fact. I do read reviews and there is a review that mentions this, but I obviously missed it. I guess if I would have taken the measurements and measured the height of a DVD and did a little math I could have figured it out. I was too trusting of the description, how stupid of me. Also, the only way to keep the doors shut is locking them. The key and lock are super cheap, I'm afraid I'm going to break the key off into the lock. I'm planning on getting a magnet or something to keep it closed. I spent $200 on this to hold my dvds and am extremely disappointed. I plan on looking for something else to replace this at some point, but it's better then nothing. The cabinet is nice looking and if you want it for a dvd/CD combo then you might like this, but keep in mind it's cheap material and no magnet closure.

Assembly
Item arrived as advertised and in good shape; no damages. Case is heavy. There is an instruction sheet enclosed that includes a parts list. All parts were present and accounted for. Instructions are detailed, in English and clear to follow. But there are construction areas where you will need to study, especially in the diagrams, before putting together. I made two construction mistakes which I had to undue. Just really study the diagrams to make sure you build it correctly. The wood is particle board but very high quality and substantial. Veneer is beautiful. Manufacturer even includes a touch up pen for any nicks in the veneer. The price for this case on Amazon is reasonable and less expensive than similar cabinets on other sites. ONE CAUTION. When nailing the back onto the cabinet, make sure to place the nails in the middle or to the inside area of the board in which you are nailing. Failure to do so may cause your nail to go crooked and chip or break the veneer.

It looks great
Having read so many reviews on that the package arrived damaged or heavily scratched , I was very concerned and when the racking showed that the package was coming from Canada by the West coast (I am in Florida) I almost canceled the order . But, the package arrived in perfect condition with the box completely intact , so that was great . Everything inside , parts and pieces were in perfect condition so I proceeded to assemble the cabinet . Nothing was missing on the hardware , and everything was complete . Well, the instructions suck big time . I am very handy so I was able to put the pieces all together in about 3 hours , but it was difficult to follow , for sure . The cabinet looks great in my family room and storage a lot of dvds and cds . You would have to rumble with the position of the dividers but it is ok I am happy . Besides the instructions , I would give it a full 4 .5 stars .

Good Luck with This!
I should start this review by saying that I was able to put this together and it looks "okay," but as they say...you get what you pay for. First of all, despite being a PRIME member, it took Amazon two weeks to ship this to me...not because they were out of stock, but because I guess due to the weight of the package (over 50 lbs.), shipping takes longer? Who knows. Second, as others have pointed out, you'll be lucky to get an undamaged set. About half of my pieces of wood were chipped or had some sort of white glue substance on them that would not come off. The box does come with a black marker to color over defects, but come on...this shouldn't be happening. Third, the instructions are borderline useless. There are a couple of diagrams that are unclear or just flat-out wrong...you'll have to use your brain to figure out how things are supposed to go. I'll confess I put at least two things on wrong the first time and had to switch them around at the next step. Fourth, and this is for those hoping to store Blu-rays and 4Ks with this...you'll only get THREE shelves (not four) when you complete the cabinet...with a little space at the bottom to slide cases in horizontally if you so wish, but if you're a vertical storer like I am, you'll get three rows across to use in both the cabinet and the pair of doors. Finally, the locking mechanisms on this cabinet are awful. First, the two screws that are packaged in with the lock are NOT the two screws that you want to use to put the lock on. Those screws are in another package. Why they did it this way...again, who can say?! Neither the lock nor the mechanism on the left door that "locks" that side have holes ready for the screws...you have to make those four holes yourself. The left side mechanism is just a piece of plastic that you slide in an upward position to meet a hole in the inside top of the cabinet...so be sure you place the mechanism in the right place on the left door, or it won't line up with the hole inside! Yeah, for $160, you can't expect much...but I expect more than this.

Great product
I brought this for my husbands cd collection. He is so impressed with the build of this product and how easy it was to put together. The package had to right side boards so he called the company and within a week we received a replacement board. Then, when he got it all together, there wasn't enough shelving to hold all his cd's so he called them again and again within 8 business days we received more shelving, and no charge. Can't say enough good things about this company and it's product. Will definitely order from them again and give them A+ for customer service!

Excellent storage for CD's / cassettes.
Great looking (ordered black). Very sturdy and easy to assemble. Looks really classy next to my stereo cabinet and record storage. Customer service was amazing. I'd definitely order items from this company again (wish they made matching LP record storage units). Needed to get a few extra shelves as 1 cabinet strictly for CD's and one for Cassettes (photos / capacity listed is for mixed DVD and CD).

Utter garbage
This review is for the cabinet style media holder. Utter garbage, the door shelves do not accommodate dvds the entire way down, one shelf is too short. Pics to illustrate. The latch on the left door hits the dvds so the door doesn't close correctly. The actual lock in the right door doesn't actually lock. The support beam in the middle blocks your view of the dvds so you can't see 3-4 movies all the way down the middle of the cabinet. Boards all have small nicks, but don't worry, they give you a black marker to cover the marks. After spending about 2 hours to assemble, I now have to take it all apart and lug it to the nearest Canada Post to try and return it. I wouldn't care so much if it was a cheap shelf, but at almost $300 I expected much better. Save your money.

Small on the outside but big on the inside
I really like this item...I must I bought 3! I had an issue with the first one, the bottom plate was damage. I decided to return it. When we tried to put the 2nd I had forgotten how and I was doing it wrong. Of course I called the company, thinking their product was defective. They were very understanding and sent me "free" of charge a new bottom (I had damaged it a little while trying to put together). She asked if there was anything else and I told her about the 1st one she mentioned that she could send another bottom plate for the 1st damage item I received. Since then I have put together all 3 and they are beautiful and roamy. I don't regret purchasing any of them.

Really nice little cabinet
Nice and sturdy. Good material. Took me just over an hour to assemble, Some may have a little difficulty putting it together cause none of the parts are labeled. But have patience, it will take shape. This little cabinet does store a lot of media. I didn't think it would be able to store all the specific collection I had bought it for. Happily I was wrong. It stores it all with lots of room to spare. It comes very dusty so be prepared to give a good cleaning to each part. Nothing that a can of polish can't fix. It comes with a lock & key. Which is nice. But is only meant to keep out those who are alittle nosy. But if someone really wants in. They'll get in. But over all really nice. Not to shabby at all.
