Star Wars 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up - Building Toy with 2 Starships, 4 Minifigures and a Droid Figure, Creative Gift for 9+ Year Old Boys and Fans

The Bottom LineIf you loved the Rebuild the Galaxy special or have always wanted official Star Wars "Uglies" in your collection, this dual-vehicle set is a fantastic, highly creative concept. It delivers two classic, robust starfighters with an ingenious wing-swapping gimmick that genuinely works, though the premium price tag for a play-scale set might make you want to wait for a discount. The Real-World TestThe set promises two complete starfighters—a classic TIE Fighter and an X-Wing—that can instantly swap wings to create a "TIE-wing" and an "X-fighter" using a clever, tool-free locking pin mechanism. In practice, the swappable function is incredibly satisfying. You just pull out a couple of integrated Technic pins, switch the wings, and slide them back into place. It’s rock-solid and completely swoosh-proof; nothing feels flimsy or loose when you're flying them around. The builds themselves are great modern representations of the iconic ships. The X-Wing features retractable landing gear and adjustable S-foils, while the TIE fighter has a clean, compact cockpit capsule. However, because both ships have to accommodate the universal locking connection, their scaling and proportions are altered slightly compared to standalone, dedicated LEGO versions. The X-Wing’s nose profile is a bit bulkier, and the TIE cockpit capsule is slightly downsized to make the mechanics work seamlessly. The minifigure selection is a massive high point, offering deep-cut characters like Sig Greebling and Yesi Scala alongside the standard pilots, plus a brilliant, color-inverted "L3-G0" droid that slots perfectly into the astromech socket. The Pros & ConsIngenious Gimmick Design: The wing-swapping feature is flawlessly executed—it takes literally ten seconds to completely transform both ships without breaking the models apart. Two Complete Starfighters: Getting a play-scale X-Wing and TIE Fighter in a single box makes it an incredible "versus" battle pack right out of the box.Stellar Minifigure Roster: The inclusion of exclusive characters from the special gives great value to both kids and collectors looking for unique additions to their shelves.Slightly Compromised Proportions: To make the wing-swap mechanism work, the X-Wing hull is a little chunkier and the TIE fighter cockpit lacks the perfect roundness of standalone sets.Steep Retail Price: At nearly £95 for just over 1,000 pieces, it feels heavily taxed by the Star Wars licensing fees. It's brilliant fun, but much better value if you can snag it on a deal. The VerdictThis set is ideal for younger Star Wars fans looking for high play value or adult collectors who appreciate the novelty of official hybrid starfighters. It isn't a high-fidelity display piece meant to replace an Ultimate Collector Series model, but as a fun, creative, and incredibly sturdy build, it’s one of the most inventive LEGO Star Wars sets in years.

Great perfect present came well packaged

My son loves anything lego. He enjoyed building. Good quality, the Tie fighter wings do pop a bit to easily though. Bought it on prime day so got at a great price too.

Great product my grandson loved it

This great value, you get 2 awesome Star Wars ships that look awesome, have great detail and are well sized. My son and I loved building these, though I was just there to hold things and find pieces so overall was easy and fun to build.

I had the older variant of the X Wing soi wanted to have the nostalgic factor...The fact it comes with an Extra Tie Fighter adds extra to what you get.

Great fun and good value. Nice gift for children of all ages.

Brillant lego built it looks good on.my shelf ideal present for star wars fans

Great Christmas presents for my grandson

Love it
