Does it work? Kinda… I double and triple checked all my connections.
The media could not be loaded. The instructions are pretty clear. They give you extra components but, for some reason one led won’t light and I have tried replacing it and I went over the entire board and one light does not work. Also it will just play music whenever it wants. Not sure if it’s user error or just a defective unit.UPDATE…..The company did reach out to me and asked me to send some pictures. And hopefully it was just a defective unit and it does happen or it could have been my fault too. Like others have said …. It’s a little tricky but, the instructions were clear and easy to follow. I did enjoy the kit. I will update again if anything changes.A+ to the seller…

Great surface-mount training with a fun result
The media could not be loaded. This has a very clean circuit design. My 14-year-old son and I put it together across the course of a few evenings. This is all surface-mount assembly. We used a hot air soldering station, but there’s no reason you could not solder this with a standard low-wattage pencil iron with a sharp tip. I find a set of 2.5x magnifying goggles work wonders, but my son says I’m “old” and he can see the legs on the chips just fine without help. Wiseguy. It worked first try and needed no troubleshooting. The kit included spares of all the resistors and capacitors and even a few extra LED modules. That’s rare at this price-point, and much appreciated. The tone it produces is similar to a MIDI-synth piano. Not bad and not at all unpleasant. There is no volume control, but the volume is “just right” for most locations. The touch interface takes some getting used to, but it’s fun. A young child will *love* this thing with supervision (it’s an open-frame circuit after all!), but an older child may find it frustrating when some notes are missed or have improper timing. This is just the nature of the beast. You'll figure it out. The LEDs are VERY bright, so you’ll get a chance to do your best Blues Brothers impression as you play with your shades on. We had a great time building it, and I’m sure you will too.

Surface mount soldering practice
The media could not be loaded. Good surface mount soldering practice. All the parts are surface mount so it's good for surface mount sildering practice. As a finished product it's a toy keyboard. but only has 7 notes the 8th key plays jingle bells. Only useful as a toy. It might be more useful if it had a programming header and programmig instructions, but if soldering practice is what you're after it will give you that.

Tricky soldering project
Definitely an advanced soldering kit as all the pieces are surface mount. If you can handle that, it's a fun little project with some patience
