Works Great
It was easy to set up and works great. I replaced an older model ARRIS with a new one. The new ARRIS didn't work at all, and would not connect to the internet. So, I tried the NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK CAX30. It is fast and connects well to Cox with no issues.

Best 2in1 wifi modem
CAX Modem Review: Reliable Performance and Impressive Speed and save on ISP rental fees As an avid internet user who relies heavily on a stable connection for both gaming and entertainment, I recently decided to upgrade my modem and went with the CAX modem. After using it for a few months, hereโs my take on this device. Design and Setup: The CAX modem has a sleek, modern design that fits well in my home office setup. It's compact, which is great for saving space, and the LED indicators are clear and intuitive, giving you an immediate status update on your connection. The setup process was surprisingly easy; I followed the instructions included in the box, and I was online within 20 minutes. The modem is compatible with most major ISPs, making it a versatile choice for different users. Performance: Where the CAX modem truly shines is in its performance. With my previous modem, I often encountered buffering issues and dropped connections during high usage times and packet loss. However, since switching to the CAX, Iโve experienced significantly faster speeds, particularly when streaming 4K content or gaming online. The modem supports DOCSIS 3.1, which allows for lightning-fast download speeds, and I can confidently say it lives up to its promises. Connectivity: The CAX modem features multiple Ethernet ports, which is a fantastic addition for anyone with multiple wired devices. The Wi-Fi range is impressive as well; Iโve noticed a stable connection even in rooms that previously had weak signals. This feature has been extremely beneficial for my family, enabling seamless browsing and streaming on multiple devices without any lag. Value for Money: With its robust performance and modern features, the CAX modem is reasonably priced, especially considering the cost savings on rental fees from ISPs. If youโre a heavy internet user, investing in a quality modem like this can lead to significant long-term savings. Conclusion: Overall, the CAX modem has exceeded my expectations. Its design is user-friendly, setup is a breeze, and its performance is flawless. For anyone looking to enhance their home network experience, the CAX modem is certainly worth considering.

Xfinity Compatible, no more monthly payment
Installation of the Netgear Nighthawk Modem/Router CAX30 is simply plug and play. The default configuration will work for most people unless you want to do personal WiFi configuration and/or network configurations. I purchased and installed this for a family member and the default configuration worked just fine. Meaning, we just plugged in the power cord, the coax cable and entered the MAC Address into the Xfinity app and were online within 5 minutes. The router increased WiFi signal within the house and is capable of handling very fast speeds. WiFI 6 also means faster speeds "IF" you have the bandwidth. WiFi QR code, SSID and Password are all on the side of the device.

Exceeded expectations, awesome modem /router.
Awesome modem/router combo. Finally getting the most out of my 1 gig connection. Automatic resolution up across all my streaming services and everything loads so much faster. Also no more modem rental. Wirelessly on my Galaxy s25 Ultra I'm getting over 800 MB a second in a different room through a wall. My PC with the added Nighthawk USB receiver gets similar speeds. And my 2019 LG OLED 4K Smart TV has also seen a significant performance upgrade especially in the quality of the upscaling. Highly recommended you can't go wrong with this device. Picture included was measured with the Okla speed test app on my s25 ultra through one wall. Thoroughly impressed, well worth the money. Oh and it was shipped well, box came undamaged and quickly through UPS.

Netgear warranty is not honored
I purchased the CAX30 in March 2026 as a new product, but I'm now thinking it may have been returned previously since the box was not shrink wrapped. My ISP was able to provision it without issue, and it worked okay for less than 2 months and then failed. I then had my ISP reprovision my old modem/router, which is also a Netgear product I've had for years. It still works fine. I was unable to return the CAX30 to Amazon (it's been longer than 30 days) so I contacted Netgear support. They required that I have my ISP provision it again and run through various troubleshooting steps, which I did. My ISP was unable to get the unit to lock onto the incoming signal. Netgear support insists my ISP must not be setting it up correctly on their end since it now only shows a blinking downstream light. What they will not consider is that my old modem/router provisions just fine and works without issue, and this one was working fine before it failed. The tech asked that I start a 3-way call on my mobile phone with my ISP support agent, but while I was waiting on hold with my ISP (which took over 20 minutes), the Netgear agent hung up, called back and left a voicemail stating he had to hang up since he had not heard from me in 15 minutes. At this point I have no other option but to use my older modem/router and chalk this up to a learning experience (not to purchase another Netgear product). Netgear support refuses to do anything about it despite the evidence of a faulty unit. They want some kind of proof I cannot provide. Their warranty is therefore worthless, and I'm out $240.

Nice equipment; spotty customer service
I am not a techy person, so I wanted something simple. I must say, I do love my Netgear CAX30 cable modem combo. It was so easy to set up, using the written instructions in the box, that even I was able to do it myself. I'm finally getting the fast internet that I've been paying Xfinity for! My wifi signal is strong and covers my entire 6,000 sq ft lot, including my ranch house with basement, front and back yards. I decided to purchase their Netgear Armor plan because they were offering a year of it for just $50. I'll decide if I want to keep it after a year. Unfortunately, this CAX30 is already a few years old, so I won't be getting updates for more than a couple more years. But I think that will be okay if I keep the Armor security plan. Meanwhile, it works great. However, I will say that their customer service is pretty bad. They do answer their phone fairly quickly, but their English is terrible. You'll spend a lot of time just trying to be understood and understanding them.

Easy To Set-Up
When my modem-router went out (after almost 15 years of use) I purchased this since it was the current upgrade of the NETGEAR modem-router I'd had that lasted for such a long time. Someone else had installed this for me in the past, but I was able to set it up and connect it to my cable and internet services, without a problem, given the helpful information received with the product. Hopefully, this will last as long (or possibly longer) than its predecessor.

Great item
Love this modem router combo. Ive previously bought other router combos and some renewed ones(I'll never do that again), and this is by far the best I've had. Speed is great, doesn't cut out. Works perfectly
