it works very well I hooked it to my Marcum under water camera I use for ice fishing when the fish swim buy I push the button and record to a sd card

used this to capture hi8 and vhs there are several issues that make this a bad purchase concerning image quality. power flow is the biggest issue and if you have a better cord, you will still have a grainy low quality capture that is too bright. consider quality the equivalent of recapturing the same footage over and over again X3. this is the beginning of a good idea but hasn't had the bugs worked out. Not for professional use...

I'm using this to record video from my 5.8Ghz FPV cameras. Two downsides:1) No playback capability. It does pass-through only while recording.2 This statement is misleading: "To maximize portability, the capture device is USB powered (5V,1A Only), so you don't have to use an additional power adapter or find an available wall outlet." This device requires an external power supply of 5 volts 1 amp. The kit includes a USB cable. But you will need a wall wart, battery or to plug it into a PC or other device with powered USB ports. Everything else in my FPV kit is 12 volt.OK bad stuff out of the way. It's last minute and I needed to replace my Anysun DVR. It was very unpredictable on whether it recorded anything and only recorded in PAL format despite the menu offering NTSC.I am happy to report this DriverGenius Stand-Alone Video Capture Box reliably records the 5.8Ghz FPV video (I'm not transmitting sound though) and it is much improved over the Anysun DVR in quality.The one button approach is very intuitive. Ha ha. So a couple of strikes on this device.But overall I got what I needed in a pinch.

The quality of the video output is poor and not comparable to the original video.
