How can I keep all the parts together? I helped my son make it and they keep falling off or feel loose

There again I gave it as a gift and who knows if my grandson has all the parts still. He’s kind of moved on playing w/ this toy however it resurfaces every now & again and he likes to pretend & play with this toy and other ones that go with it.

How long can this product be used, is it easy to be damaged by water?

My kids had had it for months and it's still fine I think there are metal parts but it has not shown any signs of rust.
