Crisp, loud sound that carries well (assuming it is installed correctly)
The media could not be loaded. Given the dichotomy of the existing reviews; some claiming greatness, others claiming a flimsy useless product; I decided to roll the dice and order two of these bells. One to replace a rusted bell on my bike that I am restoring, the other to install on my wife’s bike which came without any bell to begin with. The package is compact and efficient, protecting the bell without too much extra space being wasted.Installation is quite straight forward but seems to be where most of the bad reviewers are running into trouble. Installing the bell with too much or too little padding between its frame and the handlebar will kill the bell, muting it completely. Here’s the trick: go one step at a time. Try the bell alone, if there’s loads of space to spare add in the plastic spacer ring. Still too much, add the rubber strip. Last thing add the bumper strip around the plastic spacer. (I made the mistake of adding everything during the install on my wife’s bike because I’d needed it on my own. The bell was useless. I then pulled the bumper strip off and reattached the bell to the handle bar: it worked perfectly)The sound is crisp, clear, and impressive noisy. My wife, and my neighbour, heard my test ring at distances of 100 metres and 150 metres. This is a great wee innovation, it works well when correctly installed, and is delightfully low profile on the handlebar.

Ok, if you don’t use it.
The bell is easy to install, sounds great, and looks sleek. The issue is the bell is only held on by two tiny springs. It took the slightest knock and is now useless as one of the springs vanished.

Good, sleek design but let down by not being as loud as conventional bells
I received my Sportout bell on Monday and it's a doddle to fit on the bike. It is just one screw like most bells but also comes with the rubber inserts for thinner bars. As I'm using the bell on a roadbike I didn't need any of the inserts. It comes in plastic packaging similar to a earphone case which can be used to keep the rubber inserts handy for future use.Aesthetically it's very nice on the bike as it looks sleeker than most conventional bells. You can see by my pictures that it does sit nicely on the bar.Functionally it's not as loud as other bells unless you pull back as far as the flicker will go. However, I'm a bit concerned about how long the flicker will last as it feels quite flimsly especially having to pull it all the way to get a loud ding. This could be improved by a stronger spring? For these reasons I have to give it 3/5 stars*I have been given one for free in return for an honest and unbiased review*

Too quiet, fell apart & damaged my grips!
Sounded & looked like a great idea for an unobtrusive, lightweight, stylish bell. Arrived in good time and was easy to fit. Unfortunately it was not loud enough to attract the attention of walkers on the cycle path, requiring a very close proximity before anyone could even faintly hear it, if at all. So, far too faint to be of any use to warn people that you are coming. Also, it required frequent adjustment to ring at all, as the top would often reposition slightly when riding (even though it was firmly fixed to the bike), giving only a dull thud rather than any 'ping at all'. I found easing the top part up slightly would help it to 'ping', but on the second day of use, this top part including internal springs etc. fell apart, so not really practical or sturdy enough to use on a bike at all.Additionally, I had this on the bike for only 2 days, I used the internal rubber inserts to help with positioning/grip but did not remove the sticky tape, in case it needed repositioning. However, when it broke on the second day, I immediately removed it to send back, only to find that it had permanently stained my Ergon grips leaving a horrible yellow mark (NOT HAPPY!), which I have tried to remove with no success (any suggestions to remove this stain would be much appreciated!).So not a success and I defo wouldn't recommend, especially if you need to fix it near to or onto grips, which may well get damaged. Was easy and free to send back which is great, but I'm very annoyed that for the sake of a cheap bell, I have now got damaged grips (which are not cheap to replace!). My recommendation is to avoid!!PS Inside the packaging was a note to say that if you leave a review, the company will send you another bell for free (I really hope they don't!), this may account for the good reviews?

Simple and effective product - easy to setup
Where I live is a long promenade into town which is often dense with pedestrians and other bikes, so a bell to help navigate them was something I've been meaning to get for a while. I ride a mountain bike and most styles of bell don't really suit it, but then I found this. It's really sleek and compact, subtle and clear. It's a clever design and the sound is sufficient.Instructions that come with it are easy to follow though they make no mention of the stickers that come in the pack. The stickers are strips you wrap around the handle bar first so that when you clamp the bell on it gets better grip. It comes with two and in error I layered them up, making it too thick for the clip to close. I guess that's better for slimmer handlebars than mine - just one sticker was all I needed. Peeled off easily and replaced alongside the other to counter any movement.TLDR; Simple and effective product.

Tolles Design, leider sehr empfindlich.

Schrott! Eigentlich 0 Sterne
