Whitehall Products 16139 Wall Mailbox, White

This is a well constructed mail box, but it does have a security flaw. I had a previous version of this box purchased many years ago and purchased this box on the basis of my satisfaction with the previous one. The issue with this box is the attachment method. Since it employees a key-hole shaped hole for the anchor screws, to remove this box from the wall all one has to do is slide it upward and take it. So while the locking feature is a good idea, the key-hole mounting holes defeat that benefit big time.

Nice mail box but I figured there would be a red flag (or similar) to let the mailman know you have outgoing mail but there is NOT. I don't think it was stated that there was one which is why I did not deduct a star but I hoped and figured it would be kind of a "no brainier thing" and one would be included. NOPE! I also bought the expensive address plate which fits perfectly inside that large rectangle on the front of the mailbox and is easily mounted but drilling the pre-located (huh?) holes and two included bolts. It looks good but it took a month to get it. Overall, we just removed the locking flap thingy (they nicely provide the tool and extra bolts to do it but you need to kind of figure it out) to make it so we don't have to use a key to get our mail. We live in an area where mailbox theft isn't really a thing. Now we just pin our outgoing letters under the (heavy enough) lid and all is well. Still wish there was a flag for those...you know.....super windy days when my credit card payment ends up in my neighbors flower bed. 😩 I looked around a bit and I think we might just have the coolest mailbox in the hood! Daaaaang!! 👍

Arrived broken. Bought this mailbox in wharehouse deals $80ish . It arrived and I was please with the size weight and look. Threw away all packing materials and put it aside for a week or so before installing. Prior to installing I removed the locking lid (nice that this is an option) and this is when I realized that on of the metal hinges that pivots the lid was actually broken off from the lid on one side. At this point I was too invested in the project to go through the hassle of returning. Bought some moldable epoxy and fixed the broken piece and reinforced the opposing side. Moral of the story, this is a nice big, and pretty mailbox but double check the lid hinges when it arrives, they’re rather small and weak given the size and weight of the box.

This is my 3 month review. It looks great. It looks sturdy. I recommend this mailbox if it meets with your decor requirements.It's clear from the photos (I didn't notice it at the time) that the surface you mount needs to be flat to look perfect. I have a less than perfect appearance because my siding surface is irregular and there are voids too large to be caulked and look good along the mating surface. A moulding or trim ring would be a great finishing touch. I will probably fashion my own over the summer (not within the abilities of the average consumer).I have added rubber/latex U shaped pads on either side of the front lip. This quiets the annoying metal slamming sound. The pads will save the paint from chipping over time at the point of contact.I took the cheap way out for my house number. I could have bought an accessory for house number from the manufacturer, but instead opted to purchase brass numbers, mounted them to a piece of Lexan, and attached the Lexan to the box with heavy duty velcro (think E-Z Pass). The 3D effect yields a pretty fantastic look on the white.

The box is well made, solid and looks good. Wasn't sure what I was going to get after seeing various boxes at Lowes. I can definitely recommend this product. Also, easy to install. I removed the locking cover (option). Easy to do, just need a little patience to unscrew and rescrew the cover lid. It was nice that they provide you with the tool and new screws to use.

Couldn't be more pleased with this mailbox. It's made extremely well; durable; looks classy; easy to install; and extremely spacious inside. Holds ample mail/flyers/magazines and packaged items (including small boxes). We removed the slotted insert because we don't need a locking feature but if you do, it's functional and the slot is a decent size opening. Highly recommend!

I am very happy with this mail box, it looks beautiful on my freshly painted home and holds A LOT of mail including magazines, etc. Key lock entry keeps the mail safe from potential thieves which I really like! Substantial and gorgeous!

I haven’t installed it yet, but it is sturdy and looks very nice. The package arrived semi-open, but it was protected by a bubbly wrap . It is spacious and has a generous opening for larger envelopes. We love it!
