In fact I can use the thin plastic tripod I keep connected to back of of my phone with stand. However I just put the Apple magna charger on and it is not as tight. In fact it sort of repels the area that is not magnetized. I mean if you do not move or spin it is fine. But you need directly on the spot. It tends to repel a portion of it. I have it on now and I can pick up the stand with the phone. Anyhow it definitely worth it. It does come with a magnetic ring. I didn’t need it. I have a mag otterbox. The thinner ones. With the magnetic ring built in. But even the thicker otterbox would probably work on the phone without the mag charger. I have other folding stand chargers so do not need it. I wanted pure stand with ability to plug the long cords in. Do not believe those that show you the nuts and bolts fell out. Even if you hit it with a hammer you could not loosen these screws.
