This ring was great until it wasn't. When it hit about a year old, it had to start being charged 3 times a day and still wouldnt hold a charge. When I reached out to Samsung about it, the support rep told me that it would be at a min of $100 to service the ring or I could buy a new one. Thanks but Ill go with Aura. This is the second terrible support experience that I have had with Samsung. The other was for a fridge that was within a year and they wouldnt fix the defect by the ice box. Unacceptable and looks like I am now shifting to google or apple products. Sadly, done with Samsung.

I am just shy of 1 year from my purchase and feel like I can now provide an accurate and real rating for the Samsung Galaxy ring. It all started out great and when I started wearing the ring it provided exactly what I was looking to get. And since I am a Samsung phone user I really liked the idea of the ring and the phone working together The Fit: The fit of the ring has turned out to be very good and comfortable. I hardly know, or feel, that I am wearing it. It accurately counted my steps and movement. I loved that I could wear it all day and all night no matter what activity I was doing (working out, yard work, resting, etc). This is something I never felt I could do with a watch (besides I enjoy wearing mechanical watches). The App: The app is really easy to use and I find it helpful with tips and coaching for exercise and sleep. I does not bother me to go into the app to check status, but I also found the widget to be very useful to display my statistics on my lock screen. I was actually surprised how much information it shares about my sleep. I dont know its accuracy, but generally the sleep number is close to how I feel when I wake up. I feel like I get a lot of information without having to pay for a subscription. The Battery: This has been the disappointment. One of the selling points for me on this ring was the battery life and the need to only charge once per week. Well, that is how it started. I would charge the ring and then as the ring battery got to 10% or less I would get notifications on my phone to know when to charge it. After 4-5 months I noticed the ring would all of a sudden be "disconnected" and the ring battery was dead. I started to monitor it closely. The ring would charge to 100% but when it got to ~20-25% it would be dead. At around 6 months I reached out to Samsung for help but learned it was out of warranty and I had not purchased the extended warranty so no help. I am now approaching 1 year with the ring and I find that I have to charge it daily. Even then, it charges to 100% and as soon as i take it off the charger it drops to ~80%. Within 12 hours its down to ~50%. This is not the experience I was expecting in less than 1 year. Not sure how much longer the ring will last, but my next ring purchase will not be a Samsung.

Amazon came in clutch on this one. Probably one of the worst purchases I've ever made, $400+ for 10 months of usage. I began experiencing the (apparently) common and notorious issue with battery life. No excessive wear, no impacts, just a little worn from daily usage, the black coating is very, very prone to scratches and wear. I started noticing I needed to charge every other day rather than the once a week I experienced before. Until it would go from 100% to 10% in a matter of hours, and I mean full before stating my 9-10 hour shift at work and it was dead by the time I got out. Rarely let it die to 0%, I would always charge it in the car when I am driving, because I don't really have anything to track in the car. So if you buy this, plan on utilizing the warranty because you will. None of the order information or invoice or anything from your purchase on Amazon is sufficient to verify Samsung's warranty, a nice way to weasel out of fixing a common problem. I uploaded the information provided, which ended up being the same as what customer service suggested I use and got an email back: "We have reviewed your warranty information and, unfortunately, were not able to confirm your proof of purchase." then some information about the information I should upload and my ticket info from my failed validation, then: "Thank you for being a Samsung customer." What a joke. I've been buying Samsung phones and products for the last 10+ years, for my next phone I'll probably go buy a Pixel or a Motorola. ⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂That being said Amazon came through for me, above and beyond, after a lengthy chat with customer service they ultimately decided to refund me the item WELL after the return period, like 9 months after. I will likely not be purchasing another galaxy ring and I will look at other comparable manufacturers, I am well invested into Samsung products and now I am questioning my loyalty. If this is how they treat their customers then they're no better than Apple, which I've always held them in higher regard and voiced this often.⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂⁂ "Rapid Degradation: Users report that after 6–12 months, the battery lasts only 2.5 days or less, with some users experiencing failures within only a few months of daily wear." "Multiple users on forums have reported needing to replace their rings, sometimes multiple times, due to this issue." "It is considered premature degradation rather than normal wear, it is often covered under the standard one-year warranty." Good luck getting them to do anything unless you purchase directly from Samsung.

I purchased this ring exactly one year ago, and the battery will no longer hold a charge - extremely disappointing considering the cost. I chose the Samsung Smart ring over other options for two reasons - because I have been very happy with Samsung products (until now), and I liked the fact that there isn't a subscription fee. A note on sizing - the ring is 2 sizes smaller than standard sizes. I was extremely happy with the ring's ability to track activity and sleep. I verified the tracking against a Samsung Galaxy watch and a Peleton heart rate monitor, and the readings were spot on. The sleep metrics matched my perception of sleep quality and quantity, and the ring is so much more comfortable to sleep in than a watch. Unfortunately about 11 months after purchasing, I noticed the battery life was shortening. 12 months and 5 days after purchasing, the battery won't hold a charge longer than 2-3 hours. Diagnostics revealed the battery is only holding 17% charge, and troubleshooting (including resetting the ring) did not help. Big disappointment.

11 month update: Battery was dying every day and a half with no low battery warning. Had to be sent in for a new battery. Easy to send and only took 5 days to get the ring back, BUT the need for a battery replacement after only 11 months makes me nervous. Thankfully, it was still under warranty. Before getting a fitness ring, I tried to find detailed reviews from actual users and couldn't so, here's mine. For context, I'm a female, mid-50's, alternate HIIT and strength workouts 5 days a week and walk 2-3 miles everyday at about 3mph. I average 10k steps a day. I can't stand wearing a watch so was very excited about the rings. I ordered the ring sizing kits for both Oura and Galaxy and liked the looks of Galaxy much better. I chose this ring and wore it with my Fitbit watch, which I know is accurate, to test the rings accuracy. Pros: *I went with the Galaxy because it looks much more like an actual ring and I love wearing it *The set up was easy once I realized I had to download both the Galaxy Wearable and the Samsung Health apps *The sleep data is very close for the ring and the watch so I trust the rings data is accurate. *The oxygen level data is very close for both devices so I trust the ring *The heart rate data is the same for both devices so I trust the rings data is accurate *The ring auto tracks walking and running workouts *The app gives you a daily energy score based on sleep and heart rate factors *The ring is waterproof, although I take all my rings off before I shower so I don't get product all over them *The ring is easy to clean with some hand soap, water and a microfiber cloth *The Samsung Health app is pretty straightforward Cons: *The step count isn't accurate. Fitbit always logged about 2k more steps in a day for me -Walk to the bathroom at night logs in at 0 steps -Walk from bed to kitchen upon waking for 90 steps and barely logged any -Mow the lawn (electric push mower) and only logs about 1/3 of the steps -Wash the car and 0 steps while moving around the car -Walk 70 steps-logged 36, walk 20 steps-logged 17, walk 36 steps-logged 0 steps, etc *My noon walk is the exact same every day, yet different steps, mileage and time. Due to the gait differences from day to day, I understand the steps and time differences, but not the mileage *Doesn't auto-detect any other workouts, like HIIT, other than walking or running *Doesn't have HIIT as a workout option to manually log so have to use circuit training *The app sometimes takes a long time to sync with a 'this may take a while' message I had 3 phone calls with Samsung. Two were with the department that determines if the ring is working properly (they determined it is) and the third with the department that handles the Samsung Health app. The step problem hasn't changed, but I admit I didn't call back a fourth time when I was requested to do so because I'm just annoyed with the step count and don't have it in me right now. The app also has the ability to manually track water intake, blood pressure and glucose, food intake and weight. There's also medication reminders and tracking. These are all things that I don't use so aren't included in this review. I'll be keeping the ring because my main interests at my age are the sleep data, heart rate data and energy score. I'll forever be annoyed about the step count, but am hoping it's an app issue that Samsung eventually figures out. I've concluded that short periods of steps never register correctly. It's like the ring needs to wake up before it starts counting or the app just doesn't sync correctly. I thought about returning this ring to see if Oura is better, but I don't like the looks of that ring (it seems bulkier) and I don't want to be stuck paying for an app subscription as long as I have it. And, as stated, I hate wearing watches. There's very little information out there about the Oura that's detailed in its performance so I can't say which is better. I've read the Oura app is a little better so you get what you pay for. I've read that the rings are pretty much the same performance-wise, but again, there's no detailed information that I could find. People prefer the look of the Galaxy over Oura. So, it all comes down to what you want to track and what's important to you. If you don't have issues wearing a watch, I'd stick with that since it seems these rings have a little ways to go until they compare. If you do go with this ring, be sure that syncing with the Samsung Cloud is turned on. That made a difference in tracking. This review is based on that being turned on. Because there aren't any stats on the ring, I don't know if the miscalculated steps are a ring issue or an Samsung Health app issue.

Shortly after I updated this the ring stopped holding its charge altogether (about a month in). Within a very short time (couple more weeks) it stopped charging even plugged in. I might try the Quora… although I don’t want a monthly fee so we’ll see…I should have pursued a refund but I didn’t because it was paid for by FSA and any little thing that happens on that card and they deactivate it! This will be the last year I opt in. Anyway I may try to reach out to Samsung again because they did seem to be trying to work with me but it was going to be a horse and pony show to get anywhere and I just didn’t have the time… I’ve always really liked Samsung but now I’m questioning it since my TV recently went black on two parts of the screen as well. UPDATE**** I am adding the 5th star on because the little bit of color coming off only the bottom of the ring (in the scheme of things) really is not bothering me. The ring overall makes up for it in functionality. It is worth it **** I love the information I get from this ring. It also reminds me to drink more water and other things I forget to do. I compared it to the Oura ring and as far as I can tell it does everything the Oura does. It's slimmer and very comfortable and holds a charge for 5-6 days before I have to recharge it. No monthly fees. It's waterproof. Durable and FSA paid for it. The only thing (loses a star) I am a little bummed about is that I have only had it for two weeks and it already looks old and worn. When I use oil (coconut or olive) on my hands it gets shiny and looks new again but I don't constantly use oil on my hands. It's a new item and I am a die-hard Samsung fan so I believe they will figure that out and get it fixed by the time I'm ready for a new one! I would love it more if it could take my blood pressure (on is own) and keep track of some of the other things that I have to manually input. It's time-consuming and tedious. If also like a screen on the ring if possible and it doesn't make it any larger. If not no big deal- I can look at my phone! Overall a good purchase and worth it to help me keep track of my self-care needs. ***6 WEEK UPDATE****** I'm taking two stars back because the battery started out at 5-6 days between charges but 6 weeks later it is half that! It holds a charge 3 days now. What will it be in six more weeks?! Not a good look for a $400 smart ring!! As a side note the wear on the bottom still doesn't bother me-well it does now- as it feels cheapend because of the lack of battery quality. I'm going to shop around now since I got used to using it.
