This is the best air filter for Split Air Conditioners and it performs really well.
I really admire this product living in polluted city like Delhi. This fits perfectly well on your split AC and installation is very easy. I have also used the other brand available called Health Innovative Air Bliss Health Innovative Airbliss - Convert Your AC Into An Air Purifier but found this 3M one better in terms of usage and performance. The main reason I like this one more is because of the following reasons:1. The filter is thin and easy to fit. It comes with their own tape and you have to just stick them as per the manual provided. Installation took 10 minutes.2. I must say it performs well because within 2 weeks I could see the filter became dark black with all the particulate matters on it. The native dust filter of AC was not affected much. Conclusion:I have used this on split AC, and I think this is the best product you can buy for cleaning the air if you do not have an air purifier. Highly recommended.

Does its job but not very sustainable
Installation - Installed within my Hitachi window AC since 2 weeks now. Though designed for a split AC, it fitted my window AC perfectly (refer images) - I did not even have to cut or resize it in any manner (gaps left at both sides for airflow as is recommended). The pack comes with two filters, I have only used onePerformance - Note that I installed it behind my regular AC filter (and not in front of it), meaning that it is catching substances that have passed through the regular AC filter. In only 2 weeks the 3M filter has turned largely black (refer images) - the white lines are where the regular AC filter is shielding the 3M filter and hence where it has retained its original white colour. FYI I live in Kolkata on a relatively quiet dead-end residential street1. The AC output drops slightly - in my case its been small and acceptable. Could however irritate you if your AC is particularly old/weak, or during peak summer months (am currently using it in September in Kolkata)2. For the brutal pollution during winter months in most Indian cities, there is no way this product can match stand alone air purifiers - while its capturing all this 'black', the drop in pollution per my air quality meter is not as fast or strong as an air purifier would be3. My big issue with this product though is its life. On the one hand am happy that it captures all this dirt but on the other hand am unsure how effective it will be after 1-2 weeks once it has turned this blackIn summary, it is definitely not a replacement for air purifiers during winter months. Not very worthwhile for the rest of the year too unless you do not own an air purifier or have packed it away, and install this in your AC so that you get slightly cleaner air at the same time as you are using your AC

Good but impractical and expensive for india.
Works well, but in indian condition it is impractical. Unless you want to keep replacing the filter every 15 days, as it gets clogged and turns black very quickly. Effecting the ac air flow. Rather buy an air filter if you are concerned about the air quality. It will cost more upfront but will do its job much efficiently.

Very tidy and easy installation.
These filters are made up of very thin material of non woven fibres. In one packet there are 2 filters and 1 packet will serve both net meshes of a wall mounted split AC as you can see in the picture I have attached. Installation of the filters is very simple and leaves no mess. You have to first take out the mesh from your air conditioner. You should then wash it very properly, removing all the lint and fibres from it then you have to install the filters by leaving gap on the sides of both the meshes and then fix the the mesh with the filter in your AC. The filter has double sided tape which can be used to affix it on the margin of the mesh. Further, as a matter of customer friendly gesture, there are 6 small adhesive strips also provided so that no inconvenience is caused in the installation. The air conditioner has started delivering cool and clean air. It should feel very refreshing once you experience it. Overall a good product.

Over Priced & Over Hyped
Converting AC to Air Purifier sounds very exciting, but the reality is quite different. Let me summarize the points here:Good:- Quality is probably too good for an ACBad:- Extremely over priced- This filter is too tight (smaller pores compared to the standard mesh that comes with AC) for the AC air to pass through. Well, that may be good for Air Purifier. But here the AC (I am using a Hitachi) is trying its best to bring the temperature down of the room, whereas this filter is blocking the airway. So, as a net result - AC is working extra hard to pass the cool air & pushing the compressor over time. I noticed an average 60-80% extra time being required for the AC to provide cooling (& hence extra effort, additional electricity).Conclusion:- If you are not bothered about electricity consumption, go ahead & use it.- This may give you peace of mind of cleaner air, but probably at the cost of AC wear & tear.- But I am not going to waste money of these anymore.

3months review
I purchased this type of product for the first time. The difference is huge when compared to simple AC filter and the addon AC filter. The dust collected on the 3M filters speaks for itself. I have cleaned it once and still using it. However, I do not recommend cleaning and reuse. Though expensive, during this pandemic, it helps you be safe at home. AC would run for most of the time (nearly 10-15hrs a day) With this much usage, the product really is worth spending for. I have avoided an air purifier because of this.

Effective Product
Lets just say, I am extremely worried after seeing what this product has done. I live in Calcutta and the picture shows the result after a week. For reference, the (now) grey parts were as white as the divider lines that you see.I shudder to think what we are breathing in :(The reason for 1 less star is this wont last long with this kind of pollution which probably will need replacing every 2 weeks (I guess). Also, since the AC can no longer be used in the winter months, I no longer have the benefit of this filtration.

Seems to perform as claimed, but factor it all and it's a senseless purchase.
The attached photo says it all?Nope... Read to the endPros1. Works! Though I don't have a gauge to verify the claimed rate of purification/hr.2. Will certainly increase the life of the AC's internals.3. Can be used on an Air purifier (to extend the HEPAs life), Table fan (on the rear mesh), Air cooler and of course an AC.Cons1. They should've given a shade card, that works as an indicator for 'end of life'. No, seriously!2. It WILL reduce the airflow of the host unit and it WILL put some pressure on the motor too3. It doesn't say or seem washable. Although it may appear cleaner after washing there's no data to suggest what the drop in filtration would look like.4. Designed to work in a Very small room - 106 sq.ft. as per their own tests. (Further reading below)5. Not (relatively) cheap/affordable by any stretch of imagination! In most of India it will only last a month or less. So not only it is inefficient but also Expensive to replace! For reference, an air purifier can do duty for less money... and do a FAR better job at PM 2.5 removal (at least 16x better, even if it doesn't have a True HEPA). And a True HEPA air purifier will remove particles down to 0.01 micron (i.e. most viruses too!). That's 250x smaller particles than this product, And with a near 100% removal rate!--The one to the left (see image) was attached to an air purifier for 1 day and then moved to an air cooler (swamp cooler) for 15 days in a 140 sq.ft. room (1400 cu.ft.). For reference, I live in one of the cleanest and greenest societies in Pune.I shifted the product to an air cooler because I have a large one with monstrous airflow, several times more than an AC or even the most powerful air purifier. That will speed up the purification rate but not necessarily reduce life because there's only so much that will enter a small, relatively clean room, in a relatively clean part of a relatively clean city.So be realistic. It does what it says. Which by itself isn't anything earth shattering. And it's NOT cheap either.Mine greyed out in just 16 days! In a pollution deprived part of Pune - an already clean'ish tier 2 city! And i know it's at the 'end of life' because the reverse side has also greyed out (I mean the last of several fine layers).--One popular misconception is "What about the air that bypasses the filter, say from the sides of the host unit?!"Think... In a relatively sealed room, 'eventually' EVERY one of those PM2.5 particles HAS TO pass through the filter... By 'eventually' i mean after a certain no. of ACH (Air Changes per Hour), if the filter is not choked by then, of course.'Clean air delivery' and room size math...Now, 3M has given us some numbers "83% PM2.5 removal in 1 hr" and if you read the back it says tested in a "30 cubic meter chamber", a *sealed* chamber of course.30 cu.mt. = 1060 cu.ft or a 106 sq.ft. room (assuming a 10ft height). They tested it on a 1.5 ton AC - a Gree KFR-35 GW run on 'High'. The model has a rated Airflow of 600 m3/hr, pretty much what most other 1.5T models will output. A typical 1ton AC though will have a 15% lower number. Be sure to convert CFM numbers to m3/hr! (Divide CFM by 1.7 to get m3/hr)From there, you can extrapolate as to what the CADR for your room will be. Divide the airflow of your host unit by the airflow reference provided above and relate that to your room size to get an hourly PM2.5 removal rate. The CADR value thus arrived at would completely depend on the airflow of the host unit (air purifier, air cooler, AC or even a simple table fan) and assumes you have a sealed room!If you have an air purifier there are cheaper ways of saving your HEPA. If you don't, GET ONE!If you only want to protect your AC... DON'T GET THIS because you rather have that filter cleaned periodically than spend โน315/month, you'll spend far more if you live in Lovely Delhi! In essence...At โน150/month this *may have* made sense, for a *select few*.Though at >โน315/month its bonkers! because...โ its a use and throw product.โ won't last more than 2 weeks in a city like Delhi, maybe 2 weeks more (max!) in a city like Pune.โ allows >16% of PM2.5 and also allows nearly 100%(!!!) of smaller particulate matter to still enter the room!โ Bonus - It will reduce performance of the host unit too!
