I had my old Sony DVD writer which performed ok but it had only IDE connector. When I upgraded the Motherboard (+Processer +Memory) it had no IDE connector only SATA connector. Local stores wanted Rs1400/- for LG DVD writer with SATA connector. This Asus DVD RW is available on Amazon for Rs1075/- only. And Asus is a reputed company which makes computers! LG is not a computer company. So I selected this. It wrote fast with 24x speed. My upgraded system also might have helped in speed. it wrote 4.37 GB data in 6 minutes!
